Top NC recruits

I'm sorry if this has been posted already. How many of the top 50 NC recruits stayed home and went to schools in NC and how many left? Did we win the instate recruiting battle?

I dont think we won in state. We only landed 2 of the top 10

That trend will change soon though as we begin to show off all the talent that will be on display in Carolina Blue.

RE: Top NC recruits

According to ESPN, of the Top 50 NC recruits it looks like 23 went to NC schools. Of those we got the top 6 who stayed in state and 7 of the top 50. For the record, the highest rated NC recruit in the case of both WF and ECU was rated higher than the highest rated player that either dook or NCeST picked up in state (if I stated that clearly)

Don't hold me these numbers, but of the top 50 it looks like 23 stayed in-state, 15 went to schools in bordering states, 6 left the region altogether, 5 have yet to commit, and one doesn't have a list or anything (may be done with football, I don't know).

Again, this based on ESPN's rankings.

Win
More will come
Still, if I am good enough to go to Alabama, I will go there most of the time.
But you get a couple of top recruits that want a really good education-or their parents went to UNC
Win, get the fans to be more electric on Visit days
More, not all, but more will come.

Put another way, of top 18 in Observer, we got 6, 3 times as many as anybody else,
winning in North Carolina. It will just get better

I think it depends on what you want to measure. We clearly did better with top NC recruits than our in-state competitors. We'll never dominate the top NC state recruits. Never had, even during our best years.

I'm ok losing some top NC talent out-of-state, as long as it's to schools like Ohio State, Florida, Notre Dame, Michigan, etc. When it bothers me the most is when we lose them to Clemson, SC, Va Tech, Florida St, etc.

As I recall (or think), we had some years with Brown when we got a high percentage of North Carolina's top players. I think we can dominate top NC recruits again, although the constant ESPN attention to the SEC makes it harder, as does the large number of good players around Charlotte who moved here from elsewhere and have no allegiance to the state of North Carolina, much less the University of. We could use getting a good pipeline to Tidewater Virginia again.

Re: Top NC recruits

It's kind of odd that so many NC players want to go out of state but UNC ends up getting Trubisky from Ohio, Switzer from WV, Webb and Drennon from NJ. Trubisky, Drennon and Webb are four star recruits and Switzer was the number one prospect from WV. It all balances out.
