So telling them that it would be good to take the major because if fits within their schedule is "special treatment"? that is funny, right there. good luck with that one.

This quote makes me very angry, and I have lost respect for McAdoo & his cause. Plenty of players, managers, video staff, and trainers are able to find non-AFAM courses that still fit into a "football schedule". This everybody's fault but mine sctick he's been playing has finally gotten under my skin! He had the ultimate responsibility for his schedule, the paper that got him in trouble, and using an unauthorized resource in writing that paper. The bottom line is the kid tried to skate, got caught, and is blaming everybody he can find. I agree that the university did not do him justice at the beginning of this process, but at this point, I'm not sympathetic to him anymore.

The SBI investigation is complete and under review by the Orange County DA...

The only investigative body that hasn't gotten in on the action is the U.S. Congress.

Kane will never get it. These no-show classes also helped some regular students stay eligible (to stay in school, to keep grants and scholarships, and to graduate). Bottom line is that there was no special exemptions to athletes.

On a side note, these classes existed in High School and at ALL other colleges and universities... Anyone remember Home Ec?

Dan Kane gets it, he's just willfully and intentionally twisting every detail to cast the most prejudicial light upon UNC. He knows exactly what he's doing. The question is how long the N&O will let him do it. To my knowledge, it is the only story he has reported upon for a long time.

With respect to allegations that academic counselors steered athletes to certain classes, Burley is quoted as saying: "It was clearly also an athletic problem to an extreme."

Burley knows full and well that the academic counselors were under the College of A&S oversight and that BY DESIGN the Athletic Department had no control over them. To say this shows "clearly . . . an athletic problem to an extreme" is a lie and he knows it.

I have lost respect for him b/c he was put on that board to help the whole University system. When he makes comments like this it is clear he would like to bring UNC down a notch or to so that by comparison his beloved moou will look better. It really borders on breach of duty.

Again, no respect for him. He has abdicated the duty he promised the citizens of NC he would fufil. Shame on him.

If one looks closely at the N&O releases, that's exactly what they're doing. Check it out for yourself. It's so obvious that even Dan Grubber can figure it out.

I've said it for a while. There is something rotten at the N&O. The lengths they have gone to with this story is unprecedented for them. Someone has been promised something or someone has been given something.

Any way we can find out what classes Kane took when he was in school..? I'm sure there were no 'Breathing Exercise 101' type classes on his transcript...

That was my suggestion section. Fans should go up to Kane and the entire N&O staff and demand they release their own transcripts to be published in the N&O.

None of this matters. The NCAA is NOT coming back to Chapel Hill so they can probe and write all the articles they want. Just sit back and watch the meltdown in Raleigh when nothing happens.

This is another example of journalistic carelessness in todays written media.
