Every FG begins with a great snap, and any punt begins with a sharp accurate snap as well. The long snapper is the most under valued specialist of them all.

I am so excited for Landfried! This young man is a helluva kicker and UNC is VERY lucky to have this guy. Great young man who will contribute to this football team. He and Wogan (Oregon commit) ,IMO, were the two best kickers in the state in 2012.

watched the film and if this is the same kid i can't believe he didn't get a scholly somewhere.

Love that tweet from JJ Watt, where he lets players know that he was merely a 2 star recruit coming out of HS As others said in this thread - I hold a special place in my heart for all the kids who come to UNC and walk in lieu of offers elsewhere But WOW!! At one North Davidson game this year, one of the UNC coaches (can't remember which one) was there to see superstar Shy Tuttle. When Landfried started his kicking display, the coach got the notepad out and started writing. I believe it was then when UNC was hoping to somehow get this kid to Chapel Hill.

Let's not forget that a shot to be in a D-1 program isn't exactly plentiful. I'm sure every team in the USA has kids clawing to take walk on spots.
Next year will be the final walk ons free for all and the next signing class after should, for all accounts, have lots of stud freshmen thinking they'll get playing time day one with 3 years and 15 slots being walk ons.
The top tier kids may not be able to outplay the walk ons in year 4, but it will be very tempting for top talent to try to sign with UNC b/c of it.

Spencer Landfried is a great player and an even better young man! Coached him in Little League football and he came back several times this year to talk to our current team. He's #2 in his class academically. Glad he's a 'Heel!
