Re: What's up with Ole Miss?
I've heard that opinion expressed before and by and large, it's probably true but the SEC has a couple of whiners and note takers too. Certainly nowhere near the whining and crying the agdogs do but they have a couple.

The schools in the SEC have bitter rivalries but one thing they do is keep the things they see in the family and handle it internally within the conference. They don't have the one or two, self appointed, whiny watchdogs like the ACC has. There just seems to be more of a protect the conference attitude in the SEC.

Well let's see.... 1) I've never heard anybody refer to UNC as "North Carolina University" 2) You're all over the Ole Miss board including a post reading "leadoff homerun" after the #1 DE committed. Nice try though.
I'm guessing 1983 GED graduate and 25+ years in the Dept of Corrections.

He was just nervous. I'm guessing that if he signed with us, and announced that he was taking his talents to North Carolina Univeristy, we wouldn't have an issue with it. --------------------------------------------- --- TylerBloodyTyler wrote:

Re: What's up with Ole Miss?
You don't seem too bright so I'll keep it short. I referred to UNC as "North Carolina University" in response to the Ole Miss recruit referring to OM as the University of Ole Miss, commenting that we wouldn't have a problem if the 1# DE would incorrectly identify UNC in his signing ceremony.
Living here in SEC (ATL) country, the SEC is everywhere. Ole Miss happens to be my favorite SEC team. It's a nice campus, attractive small town like CH Hill, smallish state university with a stadium the same size as Kenan. So, yeah, compared to the rest of the SEC I favor Ole Miss. I also visit Ga Tech's site since I live in ATL and my son attends Tech. What's your point?

Hey it's cool man. You like to stalk kids who have no interest in UNC and then defend them vigorously on an anonymous message board.
I live in Jacksonville, FL so I can sympathize with the SEC coverage. I guess I'm just not as into recruiting as others. I can barely keep up with UNC.

Re: What's up with Ole Miss?
Why is it when sme schools have a great recruting year they're buying players off. But other schools have great recruiting it's because their coaching staff is out working others?

RE: What's up with Ole Miss?
They've had some good teams over the years. The key is consistency, can they get in the top tier and stay there.

Re: What's up with Ole Miss?
You think it's out of line to at least wonder why all the Ole Miss love all of the sudden?
Not saying they are dirty for sure, but I'm at least paying attention a lot closer now. That's all.
FWIW, there are quite a few VOL fans saying Freeze was very dirty when he was recruiting Memphis.

RE: What's up with Ole Miss?
Someone will have to refresh my memory but Ed Orgeron brought in a couple of top notch recruting classes to Ole Miss when he was there and I don't recall there ever being any sort of question about it. But this is a man that as at So Cal too so... He could recruit but not coach and Houston Nutt, who could coach but not recruit, came in and took them to back-to-back Cotton Bowls if I'm not mistaken. For what it's worth, both Super Bowl teams had a starter from Ole Miss - M. Oher and P. Willis. And the '03 team with Eli Manning went 7-1 in the SEC, so having good to great talent every so often isn't out of the question. Seems to just be a perfect storm scenario. Top recruit goes there for family reasons and recruits others to come as well, SEC is as hot as it's ever going to be, coach's star may be a little brighter b/c of The Blind Side, who knows? Really hope it's legit, for my in-law's sake if nothing else. Bro-in-law is an alum and my wife's family are all pretty big Rebel fans.

Re: What's up with Ole Miss?
Heard an interview with Tom Lemming Wednesday morning referencing how he met Hugh Freeze. I did not know this but Hugh Freeze was the high school coach of Michael Oher. Now, I saw the Blind Side and in that movie they made the high school coach look like a moron. If I were a 5 star football recruit, I can't help but think that would be on my mind.

This. He's a great coach and a great recruiter.

Hugh Freeze has also been greatly aided by his sister Hale. Hale Freeze-Oher married Michael Oher's father. Many people in Mississippi never expected this wedding to take place, but Hale Freeze-Oher did happen, and she's a great recruiter.

I've always heard that Ole Miss would win the SEC title when Hale Freeze-Oher (poetically speaking). Prophetic, perhaps?
