What's up with Ole Miss?

What's up with Ole Miss?
It looks like they've finally started "investing" in their football future.
I see they landed the #1 overall player, the #1 WR and one of the best (if not the best) O-linemen in the country.
Color me skeptical....

Hugh Freeze and dominoes. Good recruiter; and some of these top prospects bonded with each other on their visits and decided to try and turn it around together.

He must be. Considering he convinced a 5* WR from Illinois that Ole Miss was the place for him....again, this smells funny.
Actually, of the four 5* guys they got, only 1 was from Mississippi.
If it's being done legitimately, good for them. But again, I'm extremely skeptical. It's not like these guys are coming in to turn around their hometown team.

haha, that's funny. I think it's what everyone is thinking. About the time those kids get caught in a new car. Hope not, but I do hope they become competetive again and can maybe upset some of their other SEC counterparts.

RE: What's up with Ole Miss?
According to Hugh Freeze's wikipedia page, for now, he "put together a historic recruiting class in 2013 with the help of key boosters delivering bags and bags of cash to top level recruits."

Re: What's up with Ole Miss?
I look back at the Cam situation. I think it has been going on for a while. They made Cam's final 2, missed out and turned Auburn in. They wouldn't have made the top 2 if Cecil was shopping Cam out without making a decent bid for him. But back to Carolina football. I am excited about the job Fedora has done and look forward to seeing results in BKS this season.

RE: What's up with Ole Miss?
Another interesting note...UGa is getting hurt today late, and Auburn is having a HUGE day (some at Clemson expense) with Garner on staff now there. Garner was long thought to be the 'rogue' recruiter at UGa not always playing it straight/legal. Rumors were he and Richt quietly agreed to part ways, he now ends up at Auburn and all of the sudden malzahn starts recruiting (early on word was his shtick wasn't flying w/ recruits).
SEC has it rolling right now...we need to just start beating their arse.

RE: What's up with Ole Miss?
Helps when the #1 overall recruit's brother is a freshman already at Ole Miss. His parents expressed they want their sons at the same institution definitely understand the parents. Robert knew this. At the end of the day its a family situation. Other 5 stars talk to him and each other about building something special there.

RE: What's up with Ole Miss?
True. And it further helps that the #1 recruit is a great recruiter who actively recruited other top talent to Ole Miss. Everything just fell into place for them this year. Plus, Freeze is a dynmaic young coach and runs the spread (soudn familar). Kids love playing for him. Finally, they went from 2 wins to 7 this year.

Every team needs one difference maker and then all the dominos will fall into place.

Absolutely no academic issues with the kid. He comes from a strong two parent family in Loganville Ga.
He was just nervous. I'm guessing that if he signed with us, and announced that he was taking his talents to North Carolina Univeristy, we wouldn't have an issue with it. --------------------------------------------- --- TylerBloodyTyler wrote:

Ever since the days of Archie Manning I've liked Ole Miss. If they're legit I'd rather se them win than LSU or Bama. If they're not, Ole Mi$$ will likely be in trouble.

We should've gotten 2015 ESPN 150 Shy turtle older brother this year. Shy is the next Robert and his brother is 5'10 corner from north Davidson that runs a legit 4.4

Oxford is a pretty awesome town and its English department is quite good. However, after that it's pretty mediocre.

Re: What's up with Ole Miss?
Seems interesting how mediocre they have been in recruiting for years and suddenly they explode with four and five star talent. Not to mention, the tweet by the five star receiver who is committed to them, that insinuates he is getting paid.

Re: What's up with Ole Miss?
If the Lance Armstrong incident has taught us anything, it is when it comes to sports and you have unusual success, probably not doing it the right way. This is the SEC, where they buy players (aka Cam Newton) and get away with it. You just don't go from 2 wins in 2011 to one of the best recruiting classes. Just doesn't seem right, something has to be going on, but of course the NCAA will ignore it.

Re: What's up with Ole Miss?
The schools in the SEC have bitter rivalries but one thing they do is keep the things they see in the family and handle it internally within the conference. They don't have the one or two, self appointed, whiny watchdogs like the ACC has. There just seems to be more of a protect the conference attitude in the SEC.
