Re: EDITED: Wiggins To Clemson
I have no problem with kids switching commitments from one college to another, as long as it is a reasonable time before signing. To do it on NSD speaks a lot about an integrity of a person and screws a lot of people. Of course with Wiggins, it was obvious he was looking around a lot, so I assume the coaching staff knew he was going to switch. Overall good class, but a couple of big misses in Wiggins and North.

Handwriting was on the wall for this one. I said it back in December that Wiggins really wanted to go to the school in S.Carolina. My Hillside source was 100% correct on this.

Wiggins has potential, but he wasn't our highest rated recruit or anything. Safety and RAM are positions of need, but lots of folks see Desmond Miles as a safety instead of corner. Hopefully Joe Jackson and Clint Heaven come out of redshirts on fire.

In some ways, yes. You definitely feel for the school that guys leave in the lurch, but ultimately you're right - there is a double-standard here.
Recruiting is fickle; kids change their minds all the time. Sometimes it's in your favor, and sometimes it isn't. Wiggins isn't the first, he certainly won't be the last, and as a fan base we'll all move on...unless he becomes a superstar.

I think there is some overreacting going on here. I would be absolutely SHOCKED if Fedora and company didn't see this coming quite some time ago. I'm sure the staff had even talked with Wiggins about it. For all we know, Wiggins told them weeks ago that he was probably gonna back out.

juat saying you should have enough respect for the coach youre getting ready to stab in the back the respect of notifying him at least 24 hrs before NSD youre going somewhere else so he can make plans for a backup...He may have done that, it doesnt sound like it.
You wait til NSD and the coach may loose out on Plan B.

So the length of prior commitment is what matters? There were also folks on this board that were pissed when Weslye Saunders' dad wouldn't let him de-commit from SCar and commit to the Heels on NSD. --------------------------------------------- --- UNCFootball wrote:

hey, I got an idea! Let's ignore all the threads about players who actually signed with UNC and continue to comment on the thread about the one putz who changed his mind away from UNC on signing day. A football recruit changed his mind on signing day. It only happens every year.

RE: EDITED: Wiggins & Haynes Still Left
I think that a NSD change is indeed a reflection of a kid's character, or lack of it. If I were a coach, I would put it to them like this: if your senior prom date waited until 3 PM the day of the event to tell you that she was going with another guy, how would you feel? Only, this is not a one night event, this is a four year "date." Oh, and that last minute NSD change of commitment not only screws the coaches who have invested so much time and attention to you, but also screws over some OTHER kid who COULD have had your spot and really, unquestionably would have taken it but had to go somewhere else because YOU, with your selfish "it's all about me" attitude, waited until the final day. So somewhere later in life, if/when what goes around comes around in a Karma sort of way and Mr. Wiggins finds himself on the short end of a promise made but broken at the last possible second, I hope he reflects on today and then understands the meaning of integrity. Too many of these kids simply want to be a Drama Diva and making the excuse that "they're just kids" is nothing more than rationalizing that.

Josh Adams.
Kids switch. It is not worth getting carried away with. People will kill this player for it, then celebrate the kid we flip. All of a sudden character isn't such a big deal. I've been around long enough to have forgotten flips we got that never panned out and flips we lost that never panned out.

Re: EDITED: Wiggins To Clemson
That is a great question. Of course we are usually happy if someone switches to us last minute. Once again, speaks to their integrity. Greg Little switched to us last minute and look what he turned out to be. I would prefer we not get those guys, more trouble than they are worth. Not 100% of them are bad apples, but I would venture a guess majority of those who switch on NSD are head cases or have parents that coaches probably wish they didn't have to deal with.

I'd rather a kid switch and be happy than remain a Heel and be miserably unhappy.
It's his life and his decision to make. He's the one that must live with it. Now let's talk about the great class and kids that did commit.
GO HEELS!!!

It's a shame that the one bit of signing day drama that we had this year ended on a negative note...but that shouldn't put a damper on what was a very good day overall for the Tar Heels!

Your analogy doesn't include the thought process of the guy as he watches his future prom date go out on dates with 5 other dudes.
I can understand being upset that we didn't get him, but man, some of these posts sound overly angry and just malicious in nature.
A lot of scorn for an 18 year-old that nobody here has ever even met before.

Re: EDITED: Wiggins To Clemson
Pretty sure you're wrong about Adams. If I recall correctly, he did commit on signing day...of his junior year. He was the first commitment of that class, rated as an early high 4 star. Because he committed so early, he didn't need to raise his stock attending camps, etc and his rating suffered a bit. He obviously stuck with his commitment and signed his LOI on signing day the following year.

One thing you have to remember with recruiting is these are kids and not grown men. I think Wiggins got caught up in the excitement when Francis committed, and wanted to be a part of it.
I'm less worried about recruiting with Fedora then I was with Butch.

FWIW, there was a coaching change at UNC that year when Davis replaced Bunting; I honestly have no problem w/ kids switching when this occurs.

I guess we'll just have to wait until Wiggins decides to transfer out of Death Valley...
Clemson has got 4 safeties and 3 cornerbacks committed (so far)...to go with the 3 safeties that they brought in last year...
