Whatever, good luck to him in TN. I think we've got a good class of receivers coming in, and he would have been a great addition, but it sounds like he doesn't want to compete for the time. That really the kind of player we want?

I would have loved to have had North, but if we only have one ship left to give I would rather have a DT. We have some other good receivers coming in with this class that will be studs for us.

you sure could, nothing was sounding good as of late with him. another NC player who was looking for greener pastures and went to see that 100k plus stadium and then there coaches was wooing the dad more than him. Well so much for education because we all know UT degree holds no candle to UNC.

the thing that upsets me most is that he attends a high school that is a recruiting hot spot in North Carolina, and he chose NOT to attend UNC
I trust Fedora and like him as the coach, but I guess one talent already jumped the fence

At least MN didn't wait until NSD to drop the bomb on us. All we can say now is "thanks" to Larry Fedora and his staff for recruiting this kid's butt off. It does sound like North's dad may have found himself a gizwheel in Knoxville.

Yep. Glad he went ahead and did that. We don't as many schollies to offer, and to leave us hanging on NSD would be pretty petty considering how hard we recruited him.
Good luck to him. Wish he would have chosen UNC, but I guess he was just looking for an excuse not to come to UNC all along because he's always liked Tennessee so much.

so he picks Tenn. the school that (1) was so scared to play us that they paid us a butt-load of $ to cancel our series, (2) finished 1-7 in the SEC last year, (3) lost their starting QB to early NFL entry with no strong replacement next year???

You can't "seal the deal" vs. SEC schools because they lie. They tell you EXACTLY what you want to hear regarding playing time, position, your pastor's church, you name it.
Wish we'd landed the kid, no doubt. But it is ultimately his loss -- Coach Brewer says hi -- not ours.

Look, the kid is probably a good prospect, and realizes that he will have a lot less competition, and hence more playing time, at a school other than UNC. I'm sure that Carolina has gotten players in the past because they felt that that there would be more PT at UNC than the other schools that they were considering.
I harbor no ill will towards to this kid, and wish him well. It's his life, and his choice. It's not as if he committed to UNC, and then changed his mind at the last moment, having lied along the way. Everett Golson comes to mind, among others, that fit that bill.

There are positions of need and then there are the can't miss prospects you have to go after. Not sure if he is truly the generational receiver he would have to be to hold a ship for when we only have 19 to give. I would also opt for a quality dlineman.

My take, and it could be all wrong.......probably is, is that if we were in the SEC we don't lose so many stud NC players and we seal the deal with other big timers like Lawson, etc.

I don't quite understand the idea that there is a significantly better chance of playing time at Tennessee. They had 8 underclassmen WR's this past year and signed 5 more before North committed with this class. With North, they now have 14 WR's.

Wow. Very upset especially with all the time he spent on UNC campus and it only took two times to visit Tennessee and jump on board. It's hard not to believe if it was just his choice and not his dads.
