Heels Hiring Gilmore
North Carolina has found its new defensive line coach. Keith Gilmore, who has been at Illinois since 2009, will take over the position, Inside Carolina sources confirm. northcarolina.scout.com/2/1261154.html

Interesting... what do people think? I'm terrible at gauging hires.

Re: Heels Hiring Gilmore
Good hire. Was with Koening in Illinois so they have a good working relationship. Together they had the 11th ranked defense in the country. That is playing Big10 teams...not MAC, WAC, and CUSA comp.
Would be nice if they could get Hargreave or McCollum now to fill Duggan's position.

Re: Heels Hiring Gilmore
I think its a good hire. Now Id like to see Daryl Dixon hired to coach in the secondary and move Vic to LBers. Dixon would be a young energetic guy that would help with recruiting.

Re: Heels Hiring Gilmore
Yeah, they did mention his name as a candidate. Actually, I agree. I think he would be a perfect fit now that I think about it.

Re: Heels Hiring Gilmore
Nice find with the video! I like his energy. And that's a pretty excellent track record. Seems like a homerun hire to me. --------------------------------------------- --- Fedoramases wrote: Here is a vid of him Mic'd up at Illinois www.youtube.com/watch?feature=...v=7Ykbl9guz5o#!---------------------------------------------

RE: Heels Hiring Gilmore
This seems like a solid if not terrific hire. Fedora continues to breed confidence.

He knows the Chicago area and he knows the B1G. I mean for recruiting only.

Re: Heels Hiring Gilmore
Any idea how this translates into success with the 4 DL prospects on campus this weekend?

Re: Heels Hiring Gilmore
UNC definitely has a better chance of landing some of these prospects with a new D-line coach on board. The timing of this hire is great and he seems like a very solid choice.

I liked Deke and thought he did a good job but Gilmore, IMO, is definitely an upgrade. Glad to have him on board.

Re: Heels Hiring Gilmore
Larry Fedora does not disappoint with his hires. Says a great deal about the respect he has earned within the coaching profession.
