I considered our problems completely over with the release of the Martin Report and this slams the door forever.

No surprise that the N&O article on this addendum doesn't mention the fact that there were fewer athletes in tainted AFAM classes than in legitimate AFAM classes.

The attention the N&O has given this story is unprecedented for the paper. I suspect one day they may have to explain their motives and you can bet your left nut, it won't be just to "get the story".
There is truly something going on under the table at the N&O. Someone has been given something. Someone has been promised something. A paper doesn't go to the lengths this paper has gone just to get a story.
This is no longer a paper reporting a story. These are all out assassination attempts. One day, someone at the N&O is going to have to answer for their unprecedented interest.

If you assume the N&O is still a "newspaper" therein lies your undoing.
They have become a parody of a newspaper. If you want to be completely honest you can't even accuse them of yellow journalism since there is no actual journalism invovled, regardless of color.
They nfound a cheap way to get web hits. So be it. Let them be known for their product.

Looks like the Davidson County and Robinson Times are now the best NC papers. Despite having nowhere near the resources of the larger NC papers, they seem to be the only NC media outlets that seem to be able to report the story accurately. That's got to sting for the owners of the larger papers.

it's still not completely over...
the problem is that much of what is still being genericly labelled "academic fraud" was not...
everyone seems to forget that UNC revealed that there was no evidence of any sort that suggested that the athletes did not do the work required in those independent studies classes, there were simply more of them than the University would have liked...
put differently, there were some other academic issues but the overall size of the problem was even smaller than our non-critics are suggesting...
ABCers oughta' really love that if it were finally driven home...
