Holden Thorp has called a press conference to announce that UNC has taken full responsibility for this inappropriate action...

Faux outrage at its finest. This just further demonstates what most of us have thought for a very long time: a self policing organization that is not answerable to anyone will eventually decay into a self serving and capricious entity; existing only to feed itself.
Reform? No, dynamite the entire concept and start over with something that looks remotely capable of handing the realities that this environment and economy demand.

Why is it improper to use information that was obtained in a deposition about the main conspirator, Nevin Shapiro? Either this article is poorly written, or I am totally lost about the problem here. Shouldn't they be looking at all relevant sources of information about Shapiro and his role in providing impermissible benefits to players? Isn't a deposition a more reliable source of information than Twitter, or is it just because damning evidence came out against Miami that it's a problem?

NCAA has bo subpoena power so they cannot compel testimony. People testifying in the bankruptcy case would not be subject to NCAA review if the record was sealed. Even if it was not, the NCAA was allegedly paying Shapiros attorney to ask questions in futherance of their investigation and I would assume acquire supporting documentation. That is the problem as it violates their own rules.

OK, your response was much clearer than the article. Seems like the attorney would be at fault here more than anyone if she can be "bought" into breaching the confidentiality of a former client whose court records were sealed. What a scumbag if that is true.
