But several WERE, right?

I don't really know what you are arguing at this point. You asked for the # of games ACC teams have played on major networks this season and I gave the answer. It's not insignificant. Then I find out only games played on Saturday night count and that ESPN2 doesn't constitute a major network. The number is still pretty significant.

Look, I am not arguing that the ACC wouldn't benefit by the extra single game on ESPN/ABC that ND will bring or that there isn't a good chance that the game won't be on ESPN or ABC (it may be). But let's not get carried away with how much impact it is going to have. Having to have "the exposure the ACC would get by playing an additional game on NBC at Notre Dame" is pretty low on the totem pole in terms of value to this league. Again, you are not wrong that it wouldn't benefit the league. You are wrong, however, if you think that would be a HUGE benefit though.

For what it's worth the BC/ND game in 2011 was NOT in primetime. I never said that ND had to be in the national championship hunt to have its games on primetime--you'd be foolish to say that it doesn't help though. Where did you get that I said that by the way? Those kinds of games (when ND isn't good and the opponent is only average at best) are not on primetime quite frequently if you look back. The game with Stanford e.g. was at 3:30. FWIW, neither game that UNC played with ND in 2006 or 2008 was in primetime. So please quit with this notion that EVERY game or even most that ND is in is in primetime. As good as ND was this year, only seven were shown in primetime? And they are as up as they can possible be... What difference does that make anyhow? You act as if there is this on/off switch of whether a game is seen by anyone based on whether it is on Saturday night relative to all other timeslots. Sure, that is usually the highest viewed slot, but not always...

RE: ND and the ACC

Seems to me that the inclusion of ND on the ACC schedule assures that UNC is even LESS likely to secure a primetime slot in games they AREN'T playing Notre Dame.

And more likely to play in a nooner.

How is that helpful to UNC again?

No. That is on UNC. They win ballgames the noon times vanish. The point of this is, the ACC has to starting making a name for themselves and having ND on the schedule is a great avenue to do it.
