Ex Florida QB Brissett to state

I suppose this is a decent pick up for them since he is more suited for a spread offense. I know some reports had him mention us but we are pretty loaded at QB for awhile. His numbers aren't great but like I said, I don't think he was a pro style qb.

Good pick up for them, he is clearly talented both in football and basketball. Besides who do that have at QB now?

RE: Ex Florida QB Brissett to state

Has to sit out a year... and most backup QBs who transfer usually don't end up doing much anyway.

Reality is, this was a highly rated prospect who didn't make the cut at Florida and who Miami flat out rejected as a transfer. Will be interesting to see what happens. Not worried at all at this point.

Start classes? He can stay in Gainesville and commute when practice starts, I'm sure he has internet access.

Solid pick up for the agdogs. He was pretty highly rated out of high school.

Re: Ex Florida QB Brissett to state

Eh. They needed QB depth badly, and even though Brissett won't play next year he'll be a solid backup for them, and may end up starting at some point during his time in Raleigh.

Frankly, given what I've seen of him at UF, he doesn't scare me.

Driskell was pretty bad and they never even gave Brissett a shot. I think that says a lot. Also thought the schools he was picking from were strange choices. You would think he would pick a school that would have a QB battle when he becomes eligible. Both State and WVU will have QB battles this upcoming year and will seemingly have a returning starter the year Brissett becomes eligible.

Don't think this is a very big deal

All the more reason I don't think its that big of a pick up. If there's one guy you don't want falling behind mentally, it's your QB

I really don't know anything about their QB battle but you usually don't have a new QB 2 years in a row. I would assume whoever wins the job this year would be the favorite over Brissett the next year

So you are saying I shouldn't have been calling for Marquise all this yr? Sounds like you are also saying I should be calling for Kanler Coker this yr, and Mitch T the next ;)

PS, Darian Durant would be awesome in Fedora's offense.

That may be true or not (no idea). I know that there are definitely some who are successful including Cam Newton and Ryan Mallet recently.

And Russell Wilson.

Brissett runs well and can throw it a mile, but he has no touch on the ball.

I don't know much about State's new coach/What kind of offence does he run?

RE: Ex Florida QB Brissett to state

Russell doesn't really fit the group I was talking about. He wasn't a backup QBs who transferred because he couldn't beat out the starter. Shoulda been more clear.

Regardless, this helps their depth at the very least next year.

never sure about backups. He didn't win the starting job at Florida. I wonder how much Yow $$$ authorized to pay him to come to State.

Florida fans think highly of him. Think this is a nice pickup, but State probably will have a starting quarterback coming back, so will make things interesting.

Briskett is a rare talent. Beefy for a QB, he can chunk the football hard with some hot sauce on it.

And like the Bama QB, his girlfriend is smokin' hot.

Perfect fit for this coaching staff... Big beefy QB that can run.

I still will dislike him no matter what

Not sure if Briskett can cut the mustard. Famous for being fiery in the huddle and using saucy language, Briskett's the kinda guy a coach would put in in the last few minutes of the game with a big deficit, playing ketchup.

Briskett was famous in Texas recruiting circles, but the folks in Florida didn't cater to him.

Brissett is already their most highly touted high school player in the last 5 years.

Man, I'm gonna miss TOBy...

Yeah we really missed a good opportunity to put a lot of distance between the two programs...

Re: Ex Florida QB Brissett to state

I don't think that this proves anything about the new coach's recruiting. The kid didn't cut it in Florida so he picked a few schools where he saw weak QB depth charts and targeted them. States QB depth chart is not good.

If he was THAT good he would have more PT. It wasn't like the young man that's starting was lightimg it up. Their QB play was very inconsistent, and he still could n't play alot.

Re: Ex Florida QB Brissett to state

Oh I agree. It was more of a knock on TOBy than a compliment to their current coach.

I do think people would be foolish to assume Brissett isn't any good just because he had a poor redshirt freshman season though.

Most QB transfers don't work since they transfer because they can't beat out another player. Cam is pretty much the only one I can think of being really successful.
