Hello Friends.....

Hello Friends.....

....been checking your site out for a while now and decided to register and post with you. Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas.

What did you think of the national championship? Saban has it going, doesn't he? Hows it looking for you?

Good luck. Had ancestors to move from North Carolina to here in Tennessee so I feel the 'link' with your state.

By the way....the SEC would make you a great home if you ever move.

Re: Hello Friends.....

Welcome Vol. Yeah, Saban and Bama sure have something great going on over in Alabama.

I think the Heels are headed in the right direction under Fedora. Hopefully we can play you guys again in the future. I would love to see us play UT, UGA, and USC on a regular basis.

Nothing but a huge amount of respect for the SEC but I really hope the ACC can survive and thrive. I just think overall it is a better fit for us and the sports our school plays.

I hope the ACC stays together because the SEC is tough. ND deserved to be in that title game but just weren't prepared to play the actual game.

And FSU had their chance and blew it in West Rawly. smh. Pathetic. And as outmatched as FSU would have been against Bama, I'm not sure they would have looked worse than ND.

Saban and Alabama are a monster. They'll be hard to deal with until either Saban hangs it up or Alabama gives up football.

I'm excited about this season for UNC. Naturally, not playing in a bowl game this year stung but I think moving forward this team and program learned a lot over the last few years and with Fedora at the helm are moving in the right direction - towards an ACC Championship. To think that UNC would have played for a shot at the Orange Bowl this year without any bowl sanctions is simultaneously maddening and encouraging.

I'd love to make the move to the SEC for football - provided that the other 27 varsity sports would find a good home. Sports like basketball and baseball are fine, but field hockey, lacrosse, soccer...those programs take a massive hit if they join the SEC which is why until the SEC starts being competitive in things other than the big 3 sports I don't think UNC will be seriously interested in leaving the ACC.

Re: Hello Friends.....

Congrats on the hiring of Coach Jones & staff to UT and the famed SEC! Wow, consecutive National Champs from the SEC since 2006. Right now, it's Alabama versus the remaining SEC members and then, the rest of the NCAA football world. Hopefully, UT will get back in the mix as the football history, facilities and support from huge fan base is admired.

I am hopeful that the Maryland exit fee from the ACC falls apart in court of law. The demise of the $50MM exit fee will provide the platform for a mass exodus from the ACC starting with FSU, Clemson and Georgia Tech to the Big 10. Perhaps, UNC and Duke (and pull N.C. State along) will accept the long-standing open invitation to the SEC. Certainly, the Southeastern geography makes sense and will provide for continued and improved Tar Heel fan base support. Tar Heel Nation travel to the far-reaching points west to Iowa; north to Minnesota; south to Illinois; and east to Indiana would be absolutely cost-prohibitive (airfare, hotel, car rental, food, etc.) and geographically undesirable (extreme cold; lack of sunshine 8 months out of the year; etc.) on an annual basis. Heck, I would surmise that our home football attendance to beautiful Kenan Stadium would even fall due to no connection to Midwestern schools.

So, I am in agreement that the SEC would be a great home for the Tar Heel Nation as well.

NCU, I respect your perspective and certainly understand it with our traditional support of Olympic sports, etc., but to hamstring our entire institution and become NCeSt's whipping boy (by allowing them to join the SEC while we failed to do so) just to preserve our strong field hockey program would be inane.

Softball, defending national champs are in Tuscaloosa. Women's gymnastics, defending national champs are in Tuscaloosa. Baseball, 3 of 8 teams at CWS were SEC teams, including two time defending champ lil Carolina. Lots of good mens and womens track teams in the SEC (the speed on the football teams needs something to do to keep that Freshman 15 off). Soccer and Lacrosse are lacking, but we can continue to play those sports, just not in the SEC.
