Alabama vs Texas A&M (2014 match up)
Does Texas A&M gives Alabama true problems going forward. I mean Texas A&M is the only Texas school in the SEC. Texas A&M will be able to get some of that rich talent in Texas. Texas A&M has the right talent at the right position. Is Texas A&M in the way of Alabama becoming a 3peat? I know there are other schools but Texas A&M is the only school that beat Alabama.

Re: Alabama vs Texas A&M (2014 match up)
A&M and LSU are the only two going right now, and of those I'd give A&M more of a chance because of the way Manziel played and I think Sumlin is motivated to make A&M the best team in the state of Texas. LSU is just as talented as Alabama, but they're not as well-coached.

I think A&M snuck up on people this year, but given the infusion of talent they're about to have they're going to be a beast in 2-3 years.

I don't know if Alabama has Georgia on their schedule next year...but with Aaron Murray coming back, the Dawgs could give the Tide trouble like they did in the Title Game this season.

Re: Alabama vs Texas A&M (2014 match up)
While I am not up-to-date on what talent Alabama and Texas A&M loses to the NFL, I am inclined to believe that if both teams loses equal talent to the Draft; then, Alabama would beat Texas A&M senseless in 2013 for several reasons....(a) A&M would not sneak-up on Alabama as a known entity; (b) Alabama is simply pissed-off and seek revenge mightily on the 2012 loss to A&M; and (c) "Johnny Football" would be contained behind the line of scrimmage in similar to the containment of Notre Dame's Golson in the National Championship game.

Re: Alabama vs Texas A&M (2014 match up)
Should be a great rematch.
Although it is easy to forget but THIS year was supposed to be a rebuilding year for Alabama. They lost 7 starters off of their 2011 defense that are on NFL rosters right now.
2013 was supposed to be Alabama's year.
They are going to lose some hosses on the O-line but if they get some adequate replacements, they very well could put themselves in position to repeat next year. They get McCarron back, most of their WRs including Cooper, TJ Yeldon at RB, and most of their defense.
But Manziel is unbelievable. What he did against Alabama this year was not a fluke as witnessed in the Cotton Bowl against Oklahoma.
With all of the available homegrown talent in Texas, A&M is not going away anytime soon.

I don't see Alabama beating Johnny Football & A&M 'senseless' under any circumstances.
A&M has a tremendous home field advantage...and has already proven they belong on the same field as the Tide.
Should be a great game...

What about the 2013 match up?
Game of the Century (part 4)
Centuries are really getting short in the $EC!!

Saban has probably already thought about a winning game plan for them .

Saban was probably looking at film that night on a way to beat him.

No. In fact, Bama has a very favorable schedule. After opening with Virginia Tech they do not draw Georgia, Florida or S. Carolina next year. Their offense also gets speed demon WR Kenny Bell back from a broken leg.
That A&M game is the second or third game of the year - won't be a death blow for either team.

Interesting...that's probably the easiest-possible overall SEC schedule they could have.

--------------------------------------------- Agreed, they are locked in yearly with Tenn., and the other cross divisional game is v.s. Kentucky. (this year was Missouri)

This will be the 3rd year in a row that Bama has NOT played Georgia, Florida, or South Carolina in the regular season.

Re: Alabama vs Texas A&M (2014 match up)
How quickly we forget. True A&M beat Bama. But, it is forgotten that Bama came back from a disastrous first quarter to nearly pull it out. Not to say A&M will not win in 2013; but, you can bet the farm they'll not catch Bama sleeping. Actually, there are a number of SEC teams that could take Bama down on a good day. Problem is that Bama has lots of talent and maybe the nation's best coaching staff. They don't have many down games and have a way of spoiling the competition's good days.

Lots of truth here.
But...here is something else we shouldn't forget. Not only did A&M beat them, but LSU nearly beat them, AND Georgia was 5 yards away from beating them in the SEC Title Game.
Alabama has the best program in college football, no doubt. BUT, they have been vulnerable to other elite SEC competition. AND...if they don't get a little help with Okla St & Oregon losing these past 2 seasons, they wouldn't have any National Titles to show for their efforts during this time period.
A fine line between 'very good' & 'dynasty'.

The difference is he'll only have 7 days to prepare instead of 43 days.

LSU loses nine to the NFL. The early power rankings have them sixth in the SEC next year.

Re: Alabama vs Texas A&M (2014 match up)
I really am puzzled at their recruiting. Nine wrs committed? That sounds really unbalanced. I know they are able to back count, and some will prep/juco, but they can only bring in 25 plus the EEs, and they are still recruiting players. --------------------------------------------- --- tarheelSCF88 wrote:

Re: Alabama vs Texas A&M (2014 match up)
Should be a good game. Manziel is always exciting to watch but we all know Saban won't let the same thing happen twice. That's not saying A&M can't win. They are a good team but possibly losing both tackles and this being a very early game, Manziel better be able to run like he did against Oklahoma.

Bama plays aTm the third week of the season, but they have a bye the second week of the season, so they'll have two weeks in between the VT & aTm games. Saban will also spend a good amount of time during the offseason studying their offense and disecting it to try and figure out a way to slow down Johnny Football. If anyone can figure out a way to slow him and that offense down, it's Saban.
