I'm glad he stayed at Oregon. The grass ain't greener so no matter what made him stay I think it was the right move.

He can dominate West Coast football and be in the championship picture year in, year out at Oregon. He would be fired in three years or less in the NFL (not for long).

Yeah, he's got a pretty sweet situation up there in Eugene. Great fan support, the biggest booster in college sports (maybe second biggest to Stillwater's sugar daddy), and now a tradition of winning.

Looks to me like Kelly wasn't all that confident he could succeed in the NFL.

It's a win for college football that Kelly stayed.
However, I can almost guarantee if any NCAA stuff starts to hit the fan that he channels his inner Petrino and is gone faster than you can say "Autzen Stadium".

Looks to me like he didn't want to be head coach of the Cleveland Browns. I don't blame him one bit.

He became a hot commodity in the last couple of years after being an assist. for 19 years. Mainly at his alma mater
N.H. 1994-2006.

I wonder how this will affect his recruiting. If he was a serious contender for an NFL job this time, who's to say he won't be at some point in the future? You can be sure schools will use that against him.

I figured 3 years also. In fact, I had figured Auburn will be firing their coach in 3 years and he would be the next coach at Auburn.

Oregon is ready to promote their OC to HC when Kelly leaves. No coach in waiting business though. Good to have that kind of continuity.

He also realized that there are only so many 5 star recruits that meet Oregon's unique criteria: that their first name has a prefix. He's going after every LeGarrette and DeAnthony in the country.
BTW, on a related note his cousin Brian Kelly is going to stay at ND.

According to ESPN, he is interviewing with the eagles today. If I were an Oregon fan, I'd be much more worried about Philadelphia than Cleveland.

What was that recruit from Greensboro everyone was up in arms about going to Oregon a few years ago. I really don't care if he stays or goes as long as he stays out of NC.
