sugar bowl - speed, hitting
Curious what others thought, but I swear what I saw last night was unprecedented...fastest 22 players on field at one time I can recall AND the hardest hitting, total lack of regard for one's body, pure fearlessness I have ever seen for an entire game. It was like watching war or multiple car crashes. Big boy football - yikes!

Have you watched much SEC? In my opinion, it's like that or better for every match-up of top 15 SEC teams

Absolutely, there was some fierce hitting between Florida and Louisville. Helmets flying all over the place. Heck, I even buckled into my LazyBoy for fear of falling out on the floor!

Re: sugar bowl - speed, hitting
I agree with this. Most of the top SEC teams have speed and hard hitting. Didn't you see Clowney against Michigan? Or LSU against Clemson? That's what separates the SEC from everyone else. On a one game stage, you can beat the SEC, but try to last a whole season against that.

Re: sugar bowl - speed, hitting
Watch a lot of SEC football...hope to watch more in Kenan one day...wife is UGA grad, attend at least one game per season. Of note, Louisville is not in the SEC (and tehy were hitting just as hard as FL (wish I saw that kind of intensity out of our D even on occasion), but the Big East and soon to be ACC, so not a SEC conf game obviously. Moreover, most of the fields in the SEC are natural turf out in the elements. This appeared to be much faster than normal for an ENTIRE game, not just in spots, likely due to being inside on a fast track. Ouch!
Bitter know it alls need not comment or reply...not wanting or trying to argue...relax and enjoy life.

Wasn't trying to a know it all or bitter or whatever. I asked an honest question because I do believe that the top of the SEC plays that way pretty consistently and I've always been impressed with it

you always get that when it's a match up of the SEC and the Big East/ACC.

Yeah, there was some hard hits. It definitely wasn't a tickle fight.

Looked to me like the SEC team was the one getting hit more often than not.

Re: sugar bowl - speed, hitting
Another part of the game was the number of Louisville players originating from Florida (approx. 35). It appeared to be a pride match to prove who was the toughest. Was interesting to watch, but dangerous for the players.

Re: sugar bowl - speed, hitting
For some reason the link to the Youtube vid doesn't translate. Try this for some hits in that ballgame and just a little reason for that Chip you may have seen on Louisville's shoulder. Oh the humanity! mbd.scout.com/mb.aspx?s=17&...&t=11130331
