RE: Panthers to Draft 14th

Since guards usually do not go as high in the draft as other positions, I don't disagree that Cooper will probably not be drafted as high as number 14. I'm just saying that if the Panthers did take Cooper with the 14th pick they would probably end up being very happy with their pick. OG is a real need for them but so is DT, Safety, and WR.

A little advice. Don't bet on Copper going before 14. He will most likely last until at least #20.

Cooper is going to be all-Pro so how is #14 too high? Can you imagine D. Williams and Newton running behind Jon Cooper? If WR Keenan Allen from California is available, he would also be a great choice for the Panthers in round one. Allen is rated the #14 best player in the draft. Cooper is rated #20, and Gio #21. See the link below.

The Panthers need to draft a safety in the 2nd round. Matt Elam would be a good choice if he's still available. Elam is rated the #42 player in the draft.

42. Matt Elam | 5'10, 206 pounds | Safety | Florida *

UNC has five players on this top 100 list and three in the top 30.

Agree. He will make someone very happy. It's the nature of the draft.

RE: Panthers to Draft 14th

I think some team could trade for D-Will with the production hemp it up at the end of the season.

Nah, he's a receiver. Ellington is their running back. I've seen Clemson play a few times, and personally, I like Hopkins more than Sammy Watkins. I think I'm the only one though. Once again, I am a horrible evaluator of talent, and everything I say needs to be taken with a grain of salt. And as far as j-stew is concerned, I love the guy to death. But we need to trade him or DeAngelo. We are paying both of them way to much. Granted due to their high salaries, we won't get much. But if we keep only one of each, and have Tolbert backing him up, with some 6th round rookie holding down 3rd string, I think we would be fine.

Isn't he a RB? Or a WR? If he's a WR sure. If he's a RB, eh, I dunno. We'll need insurance for J-Stew since he's injury prone.

After watching the clemson lsu game, I'd be pretty jacked if we acquired DeAndre Hopkins. I have no idea where he is rated, and I am a horrible evaluator of talent. But I believe that kid will be a stud at the next level.

RE: Panthers to Draft 14th

I think they need help at CB and WR. However, every mock draft I looked at has them picking a DT. I wouldn't complain, especially if he can free up space for Johnson and Hardy on the edges. But we took 2 DTs and signed Edwards as a free agent the past two years.

That's the thing about the Panthers. I don't believe I have EVER seen them draft who the mock drafts said they would. With the exception of Cam Newton. I'll not complain, for the most part they've drafted pretty well.

Agree on first round picks other than Otay. Actually he was not a bad pick just didn't live up to potential.

It's the QB that takes the pressure off the receiver. Patriots have 500 different receivers on the field catching balls at any one point in time. All of their receivers are obviously worlds better than any options Carolina has. "sarcasm"

How about a WR? Steve Smith could use some help. He's almost never had a legit #2 to take pressure off.

I understand your point but Gronk, Welker, Hendandez and Lloyd ARE worlds better than the panthers #2 option.

I'm starting to realize my fellow Tar Heel fans REALLY don't know **** about the Panthers. I mean, did this dude just compare the Pats receivers to the Panthers receiving corp? Besides Smitty and Olsen there is nobody on The Panthers that's a viable number #2 option.

Re: Panthers to Draft 14th

Panther recievers outside Smith are junk and its not like they haven't used draft choices. Hope the new GM is better at talent evaluation.

I see LaFell more of a slot receiver at this point. Dudes just not fast at all. Murphy is ehhh.

Re: Panthers to Draft 14th

WR is definitely a need for the Panthers. Jonathan Cooper would help their running game but in reality they probably need a first round WR more. All the mock drafts are saying they take a DT. They need that too.

Re: Panthers to Draft 14th

The Panthers really don't have a true #2 receiver. Lafell would be the #3 at best and Murphy the #4 on most teams. Keenan Allen is considered the best WR in the draft but may already be gone before the Panthers pick.
