Looks like he wants his cake and eat it too. Waiting until after Jan 15 to sign with them, so he can collect another payment from UNC, is a little selfish and unbecoming of a head coach you want to hire... IMO. The longer they are without a coach the worse it's going to be for FIU. Especially with signing day fast approaching. And considering that schools havn't really been knocking doors down to interview him, he should be careful what he asks for if he's serious about coaching again.

But let's be very clear. This is not a UNC issue. We have no dog in this fight. The buy out was agreed to and signed by both parties. If you're the AD at FIU how would this make you feel? You've already put yourself out on a limb making the offer in the first place. Whether he did anything wrong or not, Butch's reputation has been tarnished just like UNC's.

If we've learned anything these past couple of years, it's that perception is everything.

Pete must have agreed to scrap this recruiting class. Butch said yes but not until after he gets his next check from UNC. That won't keep Butch from putting together a staff during this down time. They just won't be able to do anything else until the hiring is done. Interested to see what the assistant pool $$$ will be down there. He likely can't afford guys he formerly "settled on" while at UNC.
