Re: Anyone watching Dook tonight?
To be honest, I might not have minded dook winning this game. After all, I almost feel sorry for them in football and the ACC could use all the help it can get (except for cow college). But regardless, the heartbreak after what they thought was a sure victory made it all the better for me.
Now the only thing that matters this bowl season is GO VANDY!!!!

Pretty typical. The more things change (dook goes to a bowl!), the more they stay the same (dook football always finds a way to lose!).

Funny how all the Duke football fans mysteriously show up out of nowhere for this game, and disappear at the end of it just as suddenly/mysteriously.

Went to the movies tonight (Les Miz) and did not see the game, only the final score. What was the attendance for the game? Would seem to me that Dook and Cincy would not be a big draw.

If I thought for ONE SECOND that dookies would pull for Carolina in any game, I'd have maybe given some consideration to pulling for them tonight. But naw.... they are part of the ABC crowd and haven't earned the right to get support from me. As for State, I'd pull for the Iranian national team over them.

Avery Johnson was the coach of the month for October and November. Had a bad string of loses and he's looking for a job. What a season for these coaches and their accolades?

I'm not drinking anyone's kooł-aid, that was a bush league call by a wanna be coach. The rules committee should change the rule so that an in eligible player penalty with no timeouts by the offending team can be declined or. More severe penalty like a 15 yard personal foul. --------------------------------------------- --- mikeyheel wrote:

Common Vermin and Sean Rentfree...
...even though they're football guys, not hoopsters, are they the next dookies to join the Rat on the bench beside Wojo and Chrissy? A guy named Common Vermin just belongs beside the Rat.
BTW, in the last 2 minutes last night dook choked like Linda Lovelace with strep throat. They snatched defeat from the jaws of their first bowl victory in 51 years.
Cutcliffe's a nice guy, but when you lie down with dogs you get fleas. BTW, the former San Jose coach - now headed to Colorado - used to be on staff at dook. His kids went to school with my son in HS. He's climbed the ladder quickly, from assistant at dook, to non-BCS school with 11 wins, to a Pac 12 school with some history. McEntire(sic)?

To he** with the dookies. Fumbled twice inside the five and blew it when victory was there for the taking. I agree, Cut is a decent guy but their players were woofing all night like they were the greatest team ever, and don't even get me started about their "fans". Most of them total tools who came out of the woodwork for this sterling 6-7 year. They go back to 4-8 next year. We owe them a beatdown of biblical preportions (sorry Rev).

Re: Anyone watching Dook tonight?
From what I understand, the flags were thrown before the snap, so the play was dead. The result is that Duke was five yards closer to the goal post.
If Duke missed that first field goal, do you think their coach would have been complaining about being closer?

History has helped us understand your wisdom. Solomon told us to train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.
Your parents did an excellent job.

All that joy over a fortunate UNC win. And what a joy to see that DB slobber-knock that sucker at the end. Glad he got up, but to dookies it's SUFFER BABY!!!!

It's still bush league, period. The staff purposefully ran that player on the field late to et the flag simply because they didn't have a TO to burn. And to the guy who said the interim has a job waiting at UTenn, I fully understand that, but he proved himself to be a tool with that decision in my mind.

RE: Common Vermin and Sean Rentfree...
Webster defines vermin as small animals or insects that are destructive, annoying, or injurious to health, such as cockroaches or rats. Although Gerald is the real victim here, Vermin and his friend on defense, Russ Cockroach, fill the bill perfectly.

RE: Common Vermin and Sean Rentfree...
I had the good fortune to be standing with my daughter on the Cincy sideline during the last four minutes of last night's game.
The mood was turning more and more somber as dook marched the ball down the field until the big DT came running out of the pile with the football. They didn't even want to celebrate until the officials pointed in their direction. Almost like they couldn't believe their good fortune. They got it back with 1:20 on the clock and there was no doubt in their minds they were going to score.
Kay (no not THAT one) made his best throw of the night and hit his receiver in stride right between two dookie defenders and the sideline erupted. But when the DE came clean on Renfree and the ball went up in the air, I was happy enough. When the kid caught it and ran it in, there was more noise in the stadium than there had been all night.
I wanted to ask the head coach if he would go for two after that, but I couldn't work my way to him in time!
The Cincy acting head coach is now 2-0 as a head coach in bowl games.

RE: Common Vermin and Sean Rentfree...
Guarantee if that is an ACC crew and a UNC defender drilling Rentfree on that pick 6, it is coming back plus 15.
It is gotten to the point where it is hard to watch non-ACC football because the teams and the refs remind me with every play what a disaster the league really is.

Agree with you, Jason. There were mistakes all night by Cincinnati with personnel and they had only a handful of coaches. Not sure that was intentional or not. If the rule is bad, then change the rule. You certainly wouldn't have heard Cutcliffe complain if they had missed the 53-yarder and made the 48-yarder.
Bottom line is that Dook fumbled twice inside the Cincy 5-yard line. That's what cost them the game. Well, that and the fact that their DB's are horrible.
Did get tired of the woofing from the Dook WR's, too.
