I haven't posted here in a while and though I never knew Stephan, I appreciate the time and effort he took to create something as vibrant and lively as this community. This community is really a family in a time where it seems to be hard to keep families together. May he rest in peace.

Sad Sad Sad news! I never met Stephan. I did have many conversations with him on here. I knew him as Punishment...a Redskins Fan...Rest in Peace, my friend!
I am in shock and it has hit me like the news on Sean Taylor. This unfortunate incident made me realize, although I live in New Mexico, I would like to go to a game in DC and meet all of you good people. Life is too short to take for granted!

Incredibly sad news... I''m just glad to have shared in this experience with him and all of you.  This is an incredibly community and he was a cornerstone of it.  I'm thankful for such wonderful Hogfest memories, which include Pun, and so many of you.  RIP, brother - your spirit lives on here.

RE: Bear kills Punishment, our Founding Father - RIP Friend

For years he tried to get me to play with that damn bear... mind you, it's a Grizzly Bear, Of course I had would have nothing of it.

I actually saw this in a news segment, I knew it was him straight off.

I came across Stephan Miller several years ago, longer now that I think about it. I used to work the "From the Bleachers" forum way back.. I was actually doing a part time gig for a local Radio station in Coinjock writing information about the Redskins... he had been trying to recruit me for some time.

I finally came across to the Capital Punishment side bringing my National Defense site... we had some fun in Las Vegas upon joining Rivals. I actually did a little stint with the magazine and worked with the Darrell Green foundation some. he actually impressed me with his relationship with the sometimes difficult to deal with Darrell Green.

But Redskins managment changed and along came Balducci. It was a dark time. I had my fill despite Miller's constant prodding. I always said he could sell snowballs to Eskimos.

I went to LA once... I didn't get to hook up with him that time because he was doing the animal training for Gladiator. I thought he was going to bite it there, given some of the shots I saw.

Miller and I parted ways, or rather just drifted to different interests. I've seen his animals at various times and I wondered what new adventures he was having.

Not long ago he was trying to bring me to Atlanta.. I'll admit that Atlanta is one place I never thought I would see him. But a guy with ideas can find himself many places, this I know.

I didn't want to come here but it's hard not to. I am proud and honored to have called him "Friend" and I know he lived life to the hilt. I shared many a joke and laugh with him......

I will miss him mostly.

Goodbye old friend, our paths will yet cross again.

The fact that most of us really know each other without really knowing each other at all is a tribute to Punishment.

RIP and God bless his family and friends.

We had a chance to meet Stephan at several Scout conventions, and were able to learn so much from him professionally and have some terrific times. Such sad news. Sincere condolences to his family and friends.

I remember the first time I met Stephan. I thought " Who the hell is this guy?". It took about 15 seconds to realize there was something special buried within. He was a brilliant guy. Not just smart, way beyond that.

Yea, I remember the first time I met him. At the time, I did not know about all his dealings with Animals, Horror Movies, etc. All I knew about him was the internet stuff.

Guess I expected a little geeky guy.

Man he was so NOT that guy and so much more.

I am STILL kind of in shock over this even 14 hours later.

I will miss him greatly even though I rarely got the chance to see him.

This is very sad. Like many have posted before me I also had the chance to spend some time with Stephan during a Scout convention in Vegas. While we had only spoken on the phone, he made me feel as if we had been friends for life. He will be missed and my deepest condolences go out to Stephan's family.

Stephan will be remembered by me and his Scout.com coworkers as one of the family. He was instrumental in the early survival and success of the company, putting in never-ending days doing anything and everything needed. He was dedicated, hard-working, honest, kind, and passionate--a colorful character, a good man, and someone I felt privileged to know and work with. Above all, Stephan was a friend and comrade and he will be sorely missed.

Geez, look at all the people making their first and only posts here from various different websites and Scout.com.  Just shows Pun's influence on their community and ours.  Sounds like many admired him.  I appreciate this community I call my second home, all thanks to him.

What a horrible way to die.

Pun, peace be with you.

Here's one of Pun's last posts. Ironically enough it was about the community here and himself after Sean Taylor's unexpected passing.

Shocked and extremely saddened.

When I first started posting here nearly 5 years ago, Pun made me very welcome and also gave me the chance for a short period of time to mod the other sports forum. I never met him, but he just seemed like a top bloke who lived his life to the fullest and for that we should give thanks.

Prayers and thoughts to his family, Pun was a guy who touched an awful lot of people, I'm sure they'll have plenty of happy memories of him.

I am sick to my stomach.  I've known Stephan since 1999 and worked with him daily at Scout.com.  We just spoke last week and planned to meet in LA next week... so I am just sitting here stunned right now.  He was such a great guy, positive outlook, his family meant everything to him, and his work ethic was second to none. He was a "master gardener" of Internet communities, he truly understood how they "flow" and how to make them grow and thrive, and shared that knowledge generously with fellow Rivals and Scout publishers and moderators.  Sincere condolences to his family and to his friends around the world.

Miller!!! Peace, my brother.

They said on the news here that it was the same bear that was in the movie Semi-Pro with Will Ferrell.  Man, that bear was mean.

I worked closely with Stephan as a fellow publisher, on the publishers board, and as a fellow Scout employee. Stephan was hard-working, loyal, and a very devoted husband and father.

He will be missed by all of us at Scout.

I can also say that I was invited to Hogfest when I was living in DC. What a crazy fun group you all have. It was a blast.

RIP Miller.
