Another 6-10 or 7-9 season coming up...

Another 6-10 or 7-9 season coming up...

There are no moral victories for this loss...it doesn't matter that it was the Colts.  They lost to the Texans last week.  The o line isn't good enough for the niners to win the NFC West...facts are facts.  The niners ship is sinking while the Cardinals are rising.  Something needs to be done because its the same old story, no o line, our secondary is horrible, and we don't have enough playmakers.....hmmmm sounds like the last five years.

yep, just what i was thinking.

another Mike Nolan type season.

start fast, suck in the middle 8 games, then go out strong and finish 7-9 with high hopes.

11 years straight no pass rush. and our OC still sucks.

our defense kept them in check on the road... ok no TO's but Manning is a HOF QB... its the offensive plyay calling and the O-line bangheadbangheadbanghead

If nothing else works, a total pig-headed unwillingness to look facts in the face will see us through.

Jimmy Raye or Singletary?

Which one is it? Is Singletary telling Raye that he wants a team that runs the ball, or is it Raye that feels the need to play so conservatively? I want to know the answer to that question, because if Sing is causing this, he needs to be put in his place. If Raye is calling all the shots on offense, he needs to be fired.

Smith was looking good in the shotgun with time to throw and then they put him under center where he doesn't look as comfortablenoidea

Yeah but didn't everyone think that this team is an 8-8 team at best with holes on OL and pass rush?  If anything the big surprise is that Alex Smith looks like an NFL QB, so one more draft and pickup a couple of decent free agents and this team is 10-6 next year.

We will at least be .500 Mentally the teams gotta be really down right now after dropping 3 in a row and being 2 games out of first after today. If Young plays well then we are in trouble next week against the Titans. On the plus side, if we do lousy from here on out, we will get 2 good draft picksbiggrin

I don't get how you can be down about this loss. We didn't lose to Cleveland or the Rams. We went toe to toe with the colts. If not for Raye and his lame playcalling niners win this game. No doubt about it. Raye is the problem. If th last drive wasn't enough to alter his playcalling nothing will. The announcers even said that the coaches have to let Alex do what he does best out of the shotgun. Spread it out and let him fire.

Horrible (predictable) Playcalling cost us that game...

How obvious is it that we're going to run on first down???.... I'm not sure of the exact stats but i'm guessing we averaged maybe 2 ypc on first down, yet we kept on persisting with pounding the ball on first down...

Alex was actually getting some rhythm in the passing game yet the coaching staff showed no trust in him... I have faith in Frank Gore but when everybody in the stadium knowing we're going to run the ball he continues to not have any success on first down...

I know this is a bit of a vent, but we really could have won the game..

If you want to get the ball in Franks hands then run some bubble screens..

Also every time Frank gets hit for a check down he has success, yet he rarely seems to be utalised in the passing game....

I wasn't expecting to win that game but an outstanding performance by the D made the game very winnable..

Surely now Singletary has to put his foot down and demand we pass the ball more.. I actually think we could run the ball a lot better if we opened i up with the pass... If we get a few passing downs on a drive Frank is going to find the running lanes a lot easier...

this is why we are upset... i was hoping for a close game.. but to lose like this when we had the chance to win because our supposed RUN offense couldnt convert the 3rd downs destroyed us... thats where the frustration comes from... i am always the optimistic one.. but this game really ticked me off

i'm not complaing about Alex Smith, but rather our playcalling and defense sucks.

our defense cost us the Texans, Vikings, and today's game.

our offense didn't help with zero running game against Minnesota, not showing up until the 2nd half of the Texans game, and then only appearing on 2 possessions in this game.

we're 3-4, have lost 3 straight, and Arizona is about to go 5-3. that's the division, and forget the Wildcard. might as well start rebuilding "again" for the 6th straight season.

Re: Another 6-10 or 7-9 season coming up...

Im sorry but this is just the symptoms of a 3 game losing streak. Fans will start complaining blah blah blah. Besides the two sacks on huge plays of the game, we played pretty well in what people thought would be a blowout. The Colts are 7-0. They have the best QB and offense in the game. And how many points did they score? 18. And our pass rush scheme was wonderful today. 4 sacks against the least sacked QB?

We might have lost but we truly have a lot to look forward too. Alex played very well. Funny thing is is that Crabtree was involved in our two turnovers today. Thankfully for him they only amounted to 3 points.

Staley has a sprained knee. Hopefully he can be back next week against Tennessee.

that is an important point... he gets in the grove then they put the breaks on and start playing conservative... kills his grove then they expect him to turn it up again like he is Brady or someone... heck even Manning wasnt in the grove but they persisted on it until it broke through... our DEFENSE gave opened the window of opportunity for us in the begining... but Raye played like we were up 21 to 6 when we were only up 7-6... for the love of god at least mix it up so we can not go 3 and out allowing Manning to figure out our D... he was lost against how our defensive scheme worked... but give a great player like that enough time and he will figure it out...

Can't say it any better.

Whoever is not letting Alex do what he did at the end of the first half needs to be held accountable. Let Alex do what he does best.

i dont think our Defense let us down... Manning was lost out there in the begining.. but our OFFENSE's inability to control the game gave him enough opportunities to figure it out... and like the HOFer he is... he did plain and simple..

we were going to lose this.. but not like this... ohlord
