Vince Young / Back Up QB

Vince Young / Back Up QB

Looking at our Offense, I think Vince Young would be a good back up QB. With Young as the back up if Kap goes down we wouldn't have to change the Offense at all. Also, I think Vince Young would be much humbler this go round and accept his position / role on the team.

I just threw up in my mouth.  Being a back up QB requires more than just talent.  You have to be a leader.  Vince Young isn't a leader.  He's a punk.  No thank you.

i liked young coming out of texas but he continues to show me he's an immature kid in a lot of ways. i'm not buying that he's a harbaugh guy. a harbaugh QB is someone who eats, breathes, and sleeps football and who wants to be great, has a high football IQ and great attention to detail. even if he's 'grown up' recently, i don't buy that young will ever fit that description.

Former Pro Bowl QB with a great winning percentage.

None of that matters. He's also a guy who walked out on his team and was ultimately dismissed due to immaturity. He was never terribly accurate throwing the ball at the pro level, and he showed difficulty comprehending full playbooks.

He might appear on the surface to have the tools to be a 49er QB, but I think he'd have to seriously impress Baalke and Harbaugh in meetings to even get an invite to camp.

RE: Vince Young / Back Up QB

That's laughable.  This is why statistics with no actual information associated with them are just not the way to go.

Vince Young hasn't played in a meaningful game since December 18, 2011.  Furthermore, his career completion percentage is below 58%, which is almost a full 1.5% lower than that of Alex Smith who is being shown the door, and 5% lower than that of Kaepernick.  In addition to that, you point out that he's a Former Pro Bowl QB.  So too is Dante Culpeper and David Garrard who played in the very same Pro Bowl that Vince Young played in last (2009).  I don't see you advocating for either of those QB's to be brought in.

This isn't Madden.  This is real football actually played on the field and Vince Young proved that he couldn't handle that pressure nor the level of maturity it required to lead a football team.  The biggest signal his career is over is that he's being considered as a part time assistant for the Texas Football program.  Even his biggest supporter can't give him better than a part time gig.

No Thanks.

I've been to one NFL game and I had to watch Vince Young and the Titans beat the 49ersbanghead Chris Johnson was the star though, its amazing how much faster he looks in person as opposed to on TV. I think I'm due for another game, it would be great to make it to one more before The Stick gets blown up.

Barlow wasn't on the 49ers, or any team. This was 2009, Gore, Coffee, and Robinson had rushes. Alex threw 3 picks and got sacked 4 times, why couldn't we have hired Harbaugh a couple years sooner?biggrin He did throw for 286 though, one of his higher games.

I think Kevan Barlow was out of the league by 2006, and Chris Johnson wasn't even in the league until 2008.

Oh, hw.. maybe you need to take more omega-3s and vitamin B, because your memory ain't what it used to be. tongue

Vince Young, Namdi Asomugha, sounds like part of the Philadelphia "Dream team" in SF, that is should the Niners acquire them.
No play is too big for Colin Kaepernick!!!
