Defensive Lineman Tony Jerod-Eddie (Texas A&M) has been promoted from the 49ers practice squad to fill the roster spot vacated by Manningham following his season ending injury.
"The 49ers showed their concern about Justin Smith's absence by promoting rookie defensive lineman Tony Jerod-Eddie from the practice squad to the active roster Friday.
Jerod-Eddie takes the roster spot of wide receiver Mario Manningham (knee), who was placed on injured reserve.
Coach Jim Harbaugh expects Jerod-Eddie to be "involved" in Sunday's game against Arizona.
The 49ers signed Jerod-Eddie as an undrafted free agent in May; he has spent this season on the practice squad. He made 38 starts at Texas A&M and earned second-team all-Big 12 honors last season."
