Manningham Done for the Season

Adam Schefter reports

More brutal injuries: 49ers wide receiver Mario Manningham tore his ACL and PCL Sunday night vs. Seattle. Done for season.

Starting to look like last year...

This guy...A.J. Jenkins needs to show up & prove WHY he was a 1st round draft pick!

We have had all kinds of W.R. injuries this season, and still, A.J. can’t make ANY difference, any contribution?

Not a good sign…. and please don’t try and justify his non-production act.

Kyle Williams goes down… no A.J.

Mario goes down, and now really hurt… no A.J.

Ginn sucks, big time…. no A.J.

And the times he was active , his production = no. A.J.noideanoideaohlordohlord

RE: Manningham Done for the Season

first off, i knew manningham was done when i saw the play. you could see his knee dislocated and pop out of place. sucks to lose a player like him and i hope he can recover and be ready for next season sometime.

2nd- take a break on AJ. learning WR in the nfl is no easy thing and i don't think he was ever expected to play much with vets like moss, c-tree, williams, manningham on the roster. given the makeup of our team, it would only make sense that we utilize our other- highly capable- weapons and not put pressure on a rookie to carry the burden.

i too hope we get to see him perform and do so at a high level. but it's a huge risk too. just because he hasn't played doens't mean he's incapable. we are thin at WR now so it's quite possible he could see the field.

but TO? no thanks. he's washed up and a head case.

Man this place has become so negative.

Crabs is playing well, Moss can play more. Use Walker if he can catch the ball. Vernon will be ok.

Get real on TO. AJ is a rookie, he will get it in time.

What we need to do is get back to running the ball.

Don't be mad at Jenkins, he didn't draft himself in the 1st round. Its one thing if he's lazy and not playing because he's not putting in the work, but I have not seen anything suggesting that. We knew he was a depth receiver starting the season. Hopefully he becomes a productive WR for us, but it probably won't be this season. Anyways, if you were to dissect this teams possible shortcomings going into the playoffs, I don't believe WR is one of them. I feel great about starting Crabtree and Moss at WR. Those guys can get it done. Crabtree is having a breakout year and Moss should be fresh for the playoffs.

Agreed.  Just crazy how much depth we had and it has been slowly disappearing over the last couple of weeks.  I think James is going to do well in place of Hunter and Moss will slide right in at WR.  I hope Davis is okay this week.  The biggest concern for me is Justin Smith.

That was a gruesome injury and there is only one AP with mutant recovery ability.  Manningham isn't coming back before late 2013.   Not to sound insensitive, but what does that mean for his salary and contract situation going into 2013?   Both K. Williams and Manningham will be out til late in the 2013 season, Moss will be another year older, and Ginn is worthless as a WR.  Could the niners be in the market for another WR in free agency?  Basically they  arepossibly  looking at entering 2013 with Crabs and Jenkins as their two healthy WRs (depending on Moss.) IMO that's not enough.   Bowe, Welker, Jennings?  Too much money?  Knee-jerk reaction?

RE: Manningham Done for the Season

Thank god for our depth.  We are still in much better shape than last year at this time.  We need to start utilizing James as more of a Sproles type with lining him up as a WR.  I'm really getting to like Celek and then you work in Jenkins.  We still have plenty of weapons for the playoffs BUT I think we really need to give Jenkins a good look this week.

Re: Manningham Done for the Season

Manningham is done and that stinks. He was supposed to be a big part of the offense this season, but injuries didn't help.

good thing is that the 49ers have depth at WR with Jenkins. He didn't dress out last week, but he should be dressed out from here on out.
