Ben still not happy about learning a new offense

Ben still not happy about learning a new offense

Takes a couple shots at the fans who want to see us run the ball more.   It will be interesting to watch this power struggle play out.   Abrasive, taskmaster coach vs. spoiled frat boy QB.

He's just grumbling because management made a change that he didn't think was needed. I did my share of grumbling at work but got past it and accepted the changes. He will too, let him get it out of his system and by August it will all be forgotten.

The fact that he didn't see a problem with our lack of scoring and his lack of protection is concerning. The only reason he misses Arians is because Arians was his friend, not his coach. He's pushing back on learning the playbook.

Find it funny that he jokes about his first year in a running offense, too. Yeah, Ben, we only went 31-7 with a ring the first two years in that offense you apparently hate so much.

Does Ben love stats more than rings? His pouting after SB XL seem to indicate that he does.

Smoke and mirrors. We'll be doing plenty of passing in a Haley offense, we'll just do it more efficiently and with proper situation play calling.

I'm not concerned, because you could basically just go over to Roethlisberger at the beginning of the game and say "Ok...let's go score some points" and the passing offense would be pretty good, but I do wish that Ben would keep certain comments to himself.

Roethlisberger's an arrogant, entitled prick. His off-the-field problems are indicative of who is. There were ALWAYS reports about his commitment to football, too - his teammmates hated him but tolerated him because he won them games. He was never dedicated about reviewing film and wants to throw 50-yard touchdown passes all the time (which is why he holds the ball forever).

It's funny, actually: he'll probably go down as the most-hated great Steeler ever. I can't stand the *******.

I read the comments yesterday in the Trib.  Starkey had a pretty good article about it.  Ben is a great player and tough as hell, but he is overly dramatic, bull headed and just generally unlikeable.  He says and does stupid things sometimes.  He is more Jay Cutler in terms of personality than he is Tom Brady or Peyton Manning.

This is such a NON-story.

He's a QB, they want to throw the ball.  There's no shock in that. AND, he liked Arians, won tow superbowls with that offense, and people like to be comfortable in their job.

However, Ben is at the OTAs and is putting in the work.  I see no issues at all.
Fortunately, the front office is not run by pointless hardasses with exclusively bad ideas.- Ian "the pretentiuous-ass" Wetstone

Good grief, all he basically said was that making a change of this magnitude is challenging, but he's up to the challenge and will do what is required to succeed and improve the offense. Much ado about nothing.

That was a "shot at the fans"?    He said "the fans will be happy" and "the fans will get their wish".

Don't be so thin-skinned.  Life's easier that way.

No.  You don't get it.  These are the types of comments that destroy locker rooms and send teammates into uncontrollable fits of anger and depression:

“It’s starting to come together in pieces. When Coach calls a play, it’s not quite, ‘What’s everybody doing?’ It’s starting to come together and people are understanding and now we can start talking about the little nuances of what people are supposed to do.”

“Absolutely. It’s different. It’s change. And I’m not saying that change is bad, but because it’s different and it’s something that you’re not comfortable and used to doing, you’re not going to be comfortable, obviously."

"You’ve got to take the bull by the horns, as they say, and try and run with it.”

(about meeting with haley) “you know what, it was so long ago, i don’t even remember anymore. but that got blown way out of proportion. there’s so many rules that we can’t talk and he was moving. there was so much going on that people decided to make a big deal out of, really, nothing.”

(about being --egad! -- comfortable with the old system) “well, absolutely. you do it for long enough, you get comfortable with anything.

(about -- heavens! -- running the ball more) We’ve got some good ball carriers. I know [Isaac Redman] is excited for the opportunity and I know the fans want it, so it looks like they’ll be getting their wish.”

“I’m just going to play the game the way I know how to play. If injuries happen, they happen. I’m not going to go out and be scared and not play the game full tilt and with everything I’ve got.”

Tom Brady who knocks up women and then dumps them?  Has hired bodyguards shooting at photographers?

Peyton Manning who tea-bags a women in college, then years later lies about her in a book?

Great guys.
