Dirtiest NFL player: Steelers' Ward

I don't usually post but read the message board when I can.  I did not see this posted.  If it has been posted, I apologize.

Those defensive players are really not to found of Ward smacking them around.  I don't think he is a dirty playing in any way.  It is just not possible to be a dirty player with all the rules, fines and suspensions.  This seems more like "The guy on the other team that pisses us off the most" award.

Another one for Ward's mantle.  Huzzah!  He can put it next to the dried chunk of Bart Scott's ass.

Troy Polamalu got "dirty player" votes? Troy Polamalu? Joey Porter too.

Wah, waa. The big, mean Steelers play too tough for everyone.

Shows that many of these voters don't know who is playing and who isn't...and that these votes are not by experience but by word of mouth.

Robin Cole #56 played LB for twelve seasons for the Steelers. Though he played with many great Pittsburgh linebackers, he is considered one of the best from his peers.

That will be Ward one year after he retires.  11.6% must be the number of Bengals and Ravens interviewed for the poll.

I'm actually kind of surprised that Ryan Clark didn't get more votes - - he's had more devestating hits in the past year than Polamalu's had.

Dirty is what Spikes from Florida did last week against Georgia. Playing tough is what Ward does! Big difference!!

The fact that Pola received any votes completely invalidates this BS poll. That's a joke!

Awesome.  Good for Ward.  It must be nice being the most feared player in the league...as a WR.  Apparently the poor defensive players don't like WRs that try to return their kill shots with interest.

RE: Dirtiest NFL player: Steelers' Ward

This poll doesn't mean anything without knowing exactly who was polled or how they were polled.

Was it an even distribution between offensive and defensive players?

Who all was on the list to select from?

Did each team have the same number of players polled?  Seems more Rat players in this one.

How was the question asked?  I can ask 100 NFL players who would be the dirtiest if they played football - Bambie, Thumper, Winnie the Pooh - and could post that 80% responded "Bambie", but what exactly does that mean?  As the article said, retired Rodney Harrison got three votes, and QB Vince Young got 1.

Every NFL player, media head, and fan knows that Ward is the hardest hitting WR out there and that defensive players in the NFL know to have their head on a swivel looking out for him.  That makes him one mean hombre, but not a dirty player.

if i were a nfl defensive player, i would be as offended by a wide receiver winning the dirtiest player award, as deacon jones was, when the hall of fame had a class of nothing but quarterbacks.

I'll bet the whole Steeler team voted for Ward to make the opposing defenses think twice the next time they had to face him.devil

Homer, and proud of it!

Ahhhh...poor defensive players. They can lay the smack down on an unsuspecting RB or QB or TE and at the most get a 15 yard penalty and a $10,000 fine.

When Ward does it to an unsuspecting LB or DB...he gets labelled as dirty.

Kind of like when men call women sluts because they have a lot of one night stands. When the men themselves would definitely have one night stands, if women could stand to sleep with them. Hypocricy.

Troy? Dirty? Now that's funny. I'd love for someone to provide proof of Troy's dirty play with video evidence, please.

Funny, but not surprising, that none of the "squeaky clean" Pats are on the list, save Harrison, who's not even playing for them. I'm shocked Vince Wilfork isn't on the list.

Hines might be a "dirty" player on the field, but he does not take drugs or get in trouble with the law. You have other players in the NFL who killed dogs and humans. I see that a "dirty player"
