AFC Scout: Vikings > Steelers

AFC Scout: Vikings > Steelers

Here. Also says the Steelers' running game is a "fatal flaw":

“Yeah, Pittsburgh beat them and Baltimore could have, but take a real good look at those games and the Vikings played way better in both of those game. Pittsburgh got two fluky defensive scores and the Ravens got on a roll with Ray Rice(notes) in the second half. When you talk about quality of play, the Vikings were the superior team. They have been all year. The way they’re going, Favre just has to be Steve Williams.”

...

“Baltimore has some holes in run defense and at cornerback. [Pittsburgh] doesn’t run consistently. Denver’s quarterback [Kyle Orton(notes)] is just sort of a guy … really, every team has some really big flaw.

Pretty much saying this is the same as last year. No team is perfect, the one that gets hot down the stretch and can work around that hole the best will win. I like our chances.

like it or not, that argument can be made, not saying it is right, but it can be made. Steelers were at home and its not like they mopped up the heinz field turf with the vikes.

RE: AFC Scout: Vikings > Steelers

The thing that gets me the most is when guys call in or post that they should've used Peterson more because he was affective. MAINLY because of the offbalance hit on Gay. If you look at the stats and also watch the game and get a "feel" for his ineffectiveness, you'd know that you can't beat us by running on us. That's what their coach knew when he had first and goal from the 2. Use him as a decoy. Only 18 carries and 3.8 yards per. They should've thrown more screens etc to him and made our LBs make tackles one on one.... but that's beside the point.

Let them keep believing this stuff.... whatever helps them sleep at night.

Re: AFC Scout: Vikings > Steelers

We won they lost. They can call the defensive scores "fluky" but at least one of them was all talent.

Listening to the radio this morning Mike & Mike were talking about the Jets vs. Dolphins game. Ryan had stated in his presser that they completely outplayed the Dolphins so this was a dissapointing loss. Greenburg (a huge jets fan) said NO, you lost so you didn't outplay them. You forgot that STs was a part of the game and were completely outplayed there and it cost you the game. The end.

Our score was bigger than that of the Vikings at the end of the game. We outplayed them.

wow, is this the level and depth required of a scout assessing another team?  his "yeah, but's...." are kind of funny.  I feel like I should be trading cards with him or something.

Everyone said the same thing last year about us. Truth be told, we didn't run the ball well last year until the last game against Cleveland and that kinda propelled us imo. I like our chances right where we are; we're winning and not playing our best ball.

does this mean cincy and the bears are better than the steelers? or oakland is better than the eagles? Sorry, i aint buying the "scoreboard" is the end all to all arguments. This is the nfl, and upsets do happen. It is not uncommon for the better tolose to an inferior one.

When one team wins the super bowl, has a good record, and beats another team that has a good record it is not an upset. If the Browns beat the Steelers that is an upset. If the Vikings beat the Steelers they are the better team until proven otherwise.

There is nothing fluky about our D outscoring there O. When you do that in the NFL you win. Should we also call their KO return a "fluke"???

I see where this guy is coming from. Farve carved up our pass defense and our offense was out of sync for most of the day. That being said, I don't think it is a slam dunk that the Vikings would beat us in a rematch.  He fails to point out the Mendenhall fumble which occurred at the Vikings 4.  If we score there it's a 10 point game and the complexion of the game completely changes.  So who knows.  But as I said, anyone that believes the Vikings would win a rematch based on what happened on the "fluke" plays is ignoring the remainder of the game.

And the only reason the Vikings were undefeated entering the Steelers game was because of some flukey hail mary at the end of the game against the 49ers. San Fran was the better team that day, but it doesn't support his lame argument so it doesn't get mentioned.

And the Ravens missed field goal. Vikings could just as easily be 5-3.

I always go with the old Parcells philosophy, you are what you are. None of this if this and but that.

yeah.. it all seems to balance out for the most part... and if anything, I would call a kick return as "fluky" as a defensive TD.

yeah ...

the Steelers let two games get away from them earlier in the year, but they are loses nontheless ...

the Steelers beat the Vikings on a day when they did not play their best ball, something to be said for that, frankly.

And, as far as the running game goes, people are sleeping on that.  Mendy is real upgrade to FWP 2009, and the OL is a bit better, too ... This team is evolving, and unlike the Vikings or Denver, has not shot its load at the start of the season.  (though, the vikes are a good team, denver not so much ...)

Again, something to be said for peaking down the stretch ...

I want what YOU have

You can say it a hundred times, stepper, it won't be accurate.  Passing a whole bunch of times for a relatively small amount each time does not constitute carving anything up.  You're really overplaying your "the pass defense sucks" cards.
