OT--big 10 football stinks
what is it with espn's infatuation of showing this garbage. Most boring football on any collegiate level. I'd rather sit in cold raon and watch carnegie melon play thiel.

those games are so dry, so boring. Its like they play in slow motion. There are around 25 teams that if in that conference would win it. Hell, there 4 big east teams that would go unbeaten in that conference. Awful brand of football, just awful.

It still amazes me that any stud recruit would want to go to Pitt. What a great college atmosphere. In front of a sold out stadium. And playing for a national title. And the games are all broadcast in HD.

RE: OT--big 10 football stinks
I am not a fan of the big 10 at all this yr. I am a UT guy, and think the Big 10 is a joke this yr. It is crazy to me that Iowa is ahead of TCU in the BCS. I mean they beat Northern Iowa and Arkansas St by a combined 4 at home. Your post about the Big 10 having 0 quality wins outside of game against Miami is ridiculous. OSU beat Texas the yr after UT won the national title in prime time. If you don't think beating UT is some big deal, look at their record this decade. I don't agree with ESPN's love fest with big 10 and acc, but that was a quality win on the big stage. RE: OT--big 10 football stinks
I'm with you on this, except that Iowa has beaten Penn State, Arizona, Wisonsin, and Michigan, all winning teams. They've not always been impressive, and I don't think they're a lock to finish undefeated with OSU coming up, but they've beaten some good teams. Teams whose expectations were perhaps higher than Iowa's coming into this season. jdub1982 wrote: I am not a fan of the big 10 at all this yr. I am a UT guy, and think the Big 10 is a joke this yr. I remember would joe pamper would routinely schedule teams like nebraske, when they were a top 10 under osborne, he'd schedule alabama, miami, notre lame, etc. when they were actually decent. Now, he schedules mac schools, and directional schools.

There's no excuse for this year's non-conference schedule - - they should never be playing directional Illinois or Coastal Carolina (although they are hardly alone with this). But they played Nebraska when Michael Robinson was QB and they played Notre Dame twice within the last five years. And other than last year with USC, they've won their bowls as well including against Florida State, Tennessee, and Texas A&M (and they beat Oregon State who did beat USC last year). They're not a National Championship sort of school anymore, but they are a yearly top fifteen program. Only a history of greater success makes that unacceptable to some.

RE: OT--big 10 football stinks
The Big Ten is building back up slowly. -Wisconsin has a solid foundation for the next few years -Penn State needs some offensive playmakers to develop, after losing a ton last year -Mich has nowhere to go but up, and they've been getting the recruits to put together a nice team down the road -Indiana moving from the bottom to the middle -Iowa has the mentality that every other Big Ten team wishes they had. They're doing more with less, and they have some solid classes in the last few years. -Minnesota will blow as long as Brewster is there -Ditto for Illinois and Zook -Northwestern is always decent. -MSU has a great coach, and still needs to replace Javon Ringer -Purdue looked like the worst team in football yesterday. Not much to say about them. -Lastly, Ohio State and Pryor will always be fatally flawed. The guy can't run a complex pro-style offense. If they had Troy Smith right now, they would be top five in the nation. For the record, just because a league is boring to watch, doesn't mean the talent level is low. I'll wait until bowl season this year to gloat, though.

He sucks. listen up carrot top, as i said, i thought duke was a late 1st- early 2nd rd pick and i based that on his measurables and what i saw. colbert had a team full of scouts, personal workout info, combine, etc, and he thought anthony smith and colclough were 2nd rd'ers. sorry, i aint one of the many here who read a mock draft, dole up a couple youtube replays, and form an opinion. nothing funnier than readin stuff from folk like you over a smakk school prospect, one you never even see play, yet you all form an opinion. Back to joe pamper, he lost respect when he punished the whole team for the actions of a few bad apples. dictator type bs. Maybe he ought to spend some time figuring how to no longer be kirk ferentz's beyotch.

Re: OT--big 10 football stinks
With all due respect to our Big Ten alum/posters, the Big 10 has been ridiculously overrated for many years. I don't know how many times we're going to need to see them ranked too highly only to lose regular season games throughout the year to mediocre opponents and to get completely embarassed in major bowl games before it sinks in to the voters/computers. And this is coming from a Big 10 alum.

Indiana got jobbed in that game yesterday by the refs. No way they should have overturned that td catch.

Re: OT--big 10 football stinks
The big ten doesn't have favorable bowl matchups. It's made worse when the conference gets 2 teams in the BCS. If they were to get one, I believe the matchups would be a little more even in the bowls, many of which they are at a serious geographic disadvantage (isn't the only reason why they're struggled, but it doesn't help to play the SEC in Orlando, the Big 12 in San Antonio, and the Pac 10 in LA). Has the Big ten ever had a good matchup in the Alamo? I can recall Mizzou v Northwestern last year, Texas v Iowa in 06, and KSU (which was in the conference title game and who had an outside shot at the title game, iirc) v Purdue. Same with the Cap-One. I think UGa-Ohio St would have been a much better game than UGa-Michigan St. As it was though, Ohio St got a BCS game in which they were pitted against a team who arguably should have been playing for the title. I'd like to know those four Big East teams which would walk through the Big Ten. UC and Pitt could certainly be competitive, esp this year, but I wouldn't guarantee a walk.
