Steelers get value in free agency
Buzz up!

Bang for their buck

The Steelers hardly broke the bank during the free-agent signing period in 2008. Here is a look at the three players they signed.

Justin Hartwig, C - Has started 26 consecutive games for the Steelers.

Keyaron Fox, ILB - Leads the Steelers with 12 tackles on special teams.

Mewelde Moore, RB - Has 171 rushing and receiving yards combined and a touchdown.

"Because things that he has done that he may not know I know he's done," Harrison said. "It's not things I know that you know I know; it's the things that I know that you don't know I know that makes me trust him."

But, but, you're supposed to overpay in free agency or you'll never win anything.

Let me say this very slowly.......Hartwig       lead        all       Centers        in         sacks      allowed.

YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR.

As for Fox, he seems to be a nice depth find.   Some with Moore.

What people are trying to beat into your head is that maybe it's not as big of an issue as you make it out to be if we are able to win the Super Bowl while having it.

Homer, and proud of it!

How about we just shut the MB down the year after a SB title because things could not be improved?

The RB is averaging 1.2 yards per carry!  Who cares, we won the SB!!

The OL gave up 56 sacks!  Who cares, we won the SB!!

Yet the reverse to this argument - Sep / Berger does not apply.

And it's the 1,000,000th time you've FAILED to realize the ends justify the means. Who gives a flying F how many sacks we give up if we win the Super Bowl?!?!?! Really, are you that simple?

Is losing yards a good thing?  Does a separated shoulder effect throwing?  How about broken ribs?  Concussions?  What about being 29th in yards per rush?

Do you think we win the SB last year with the 10th rated defense?

Last year was a miracle.  You just don't see it.

what you fail to realize is sep cost us in football terms nothing but a 4th round pick.   matt birk breaks the cap and either miller or deebo leave, or we don't resign woodley or tone or timmons or even a mike wallace.  hartwig was a signifcant upgrade over mahan and we have two guys in the fold (legursky and shipley) who will most likely replace him, however he is adequate didn't break the bank and we won with him.  Also look at the level of competition he face last year.  most of the top 10 defenses in the league with a two guards who were essentially starting for the 1st time in Kemo of Stapleton.   I can make 6 y.o. understand this but you, well damn i'm lost for words.ohlord

You are grasping at straws.  Hartwig signed a 3/10 extension and Birk signed for 3/15.  Another moronic argument.....yeah but, if we sign an actually good player....we lose our entire team!!

"great" standards.

19th in yards per rush.

26th in sacks allowed.

The King of Dorks chimes in.  Let me guess, Hartwig is a pro bowler, right?
