I just read that, if he is back, who is going?

Why? Looks like some other team will get some of our young linemen.

This front office is aggravating at times.

I like the player, but he's a one year and gone. I hope this doesn't mean a promising young DE ends up in Arizona.

Then again, none of these young guys looks like Aaron Smith yet. We had high hopes for Arnfelt after last year and it looks like he hit a playeau. Other fan bases are probably also worried about their team losing a promising player.

No worries.  Apparently he's taking landry's spot :)

If he takes any PT away from Tuitt this is a bad move. I hope I'm wrong but I would not put it past Lebeau to have him in the starting lineup on opening day.

OK! Disregard my previous post about Deebo...I like....but find a way to keep Mauro, I wanted him in the 5th rd.

if this keeps us from signing Josh Mauro, it's a bad move.
if this keeps us from signing Brian Arnfelt, it's a bad move.
if this keeps Stephon Tuitt on the bench for ANY period of time WHATSOEVER for reasons other than injury, it's a bad move.

That was actually unbelievable that (Joel) said that people do not debate him on football.  He just blocks out the parts where others are right, which leaves him almost nothing to remember. - Danimal

Great move. Adds needed depth to the DL. The extra 2 spots on the practice squad probably helped shape this decision. We can store Mauro and possibly Nick Williams for a year while they develop.

Yeah, kind of lost me with Arnfelt, I get the Tuitt and Mauro.  I heard Wolf mention that the word on Arnfelt is he works very hard, but "over thinks on the field".

Arnfelt wasn't making this team w/ Keisel or not. He hasn't showed anything worth a spot.

I only agree with the last one. Mauro has flashed occasionally against soon to be UPS employees and Arnfelt has shown exactly zilch this pre season. Additionally this means less snaps for Cam Thomas, Kiesel might be more effective with much, much fewer snaps and Tuitt will see some bench time as will most members of the dline not named Heyward. You are overreacting to say the least, calm down and wait to see how this plays out before hitting the panic button.

yes.

in other words, anything that keeps us shackled to a 36-year old DL whose best days are long gone while preventing us from developing promising young players is a bad move.

you bring in a 36-year old DL when you have injuries.  You bring him in if you have a good chance to really get somewhere but you are missing one piece as a result of injury or lack of talent.  We have had an influx of young talent over the last 2-3 years on the DL.  Sooner or later, you have to move on.  That Super Bowl from 2008 was great but it's time to move on from (most) of those players.

Plus, if we bring him in now, I believe his contract is guaranteed, as opposed to waiting until just after the season begins, where I think we can reduce the potential liabiliity/cap hit

I imagine we'll end up resigning Will Allen as well.  rolleyes

Unless they are claimed which for Mauro is possible. I fear losing Mauro and Howard Jones

This Keisel? - oldwiseman.gif

I am with everyone on the side of "If this is true, I sure hope it does not take any snaps away from Tuitt" crowd.

Re: The beard is back!

Mauro won't survive on the PS----------he'll get claimed and the steelers will lose him.....Hopefully that scenario won't occur.
