Philly at Pitt - Pitt at home coming off their bye

get used to it folks - we play teams with significant prep/rest advantages all season - the most ridiculously unfair schedule I have ever seen....thanks NFL.

if we get a W here it will be a minor miracle.

I've been an Eagles fan for about 30 years now. But these are my 2 favorite teams. I hate this game. Don't like to see either of 'em lose. But, since we have to play it. Go Eagles!

Well, the Steelers are little banged up right now.  I know Mendenhall is coming back from a knee injury but Harrison and Polamalu both remain questionable.  Their first-round pick David DeCastro is out for the season, which is not good news for Big Ben because he is not getting a lot of protection.  There is a reason why he has been sacked 9 times this season.  So I like the Eagles' chances in this game!  As long as they use the same game plan as the Giants game, they will win.

Ugh..Steelers in Pittsburgh. These never turn out well for us. I still remember the infamous McNabb/Owens sideline incident in Pittsburgh when both teams were undefeated.

Harrison will probably play, Troy P, doubtful.

Big Ben is a tough SOB. He is big and strong. The DLine will have to hit him hard to knock him down. He does get sacked, but it isn't easy.

Our D matches up pretty well with their O. Wallace and Brown against DRC and Aso will be a good matchup. The LB's will have to contain Miller, probably the most underrated TE in football.

Run Shady Run. ... that should be the theme. Keep feeding the ball to McCoy and Brown. Don't give Vick a chance to turn the ball over with INT's. Pittsburgh's D can create turnovers.

Given the week off, they will be well rested. Given the big win, our emotions are high. Don't want to see a close game, but a blowout favors Pittsburgh IMO.

Pitt coach was on Sirius today - said Troy P would play.

Per Tomlin's presser, Harrison, Polamalu, and Mendenhall are not on the injury report this week.  Of course, all have to make it through a week of practice, which shouldn't be a problem for Mendenhall as he was practicing two weeks before the bye week.

If any of the three misses the game, I'd bet it's Harrison.   He hasn't played since last season.

Negative.   Worst in the league with 15 last year, near bottom with only 3 this year, and one was on special teams.

"Blitzburgh" has morphed into a passive, read and react, gap control defense that is not disruptive at all.

I was thinking of Pittsburgh's past. Last year I figured was an off year for them.

A 3-4 D always seems to give us problems. I am sure this week won't be any different.

Re: Philly at Pitt - Pitt at home coming off their bye

We have the worst schedule in the NFL this year.   Our next three games are against teams coming off of their bye.    One of the games is coming off of our bye...so that one is no advantage.

Crazy unfair.   We have no bye advantages this year at all.   Just this crazy level of schedule unfairness will wind up costing us at least one win this year.    A steaming pile of bullshit.

I agree...this schedule pisses me off every time I think about it.  I can't think of any team that has ever faced more than two teams coming off byes (except maybe the one year every team had two byes), but somehow we face FOUR, plus two more teams coming off Thursday night games the week before.  We seem to get hosed like this a lot....remember the year we had 3 straight road games against our division?  WTH was that?

Too much of this game is in Pittsburgh's favor...coming off a bye week at home in a really must win game for them.  Guess I'll pick the Steelers.

Does Tapp draw a stupid personal foul every single game?  He's not good enough to be that undisciplined.

I was travelling and could only listen to Merril - he seemed to think the ref blew the call, was it legitimate?

Good game for us, making it this close given the terrible situation.    Happy to see the team play ok.    Vick is so frustrating.   So much talent, so little ball control.   Going to drive me to drink.

I see 3 and 3 staring us in the face.    Hopefully we wont have our typical pre bye funk but facing Detroit coming off their bye makes it tough.

It was legit IMO.  The play was over and he just shoved a Pittsburgh player hard right next to an official..

Despite Vick's TOs, I have to lay this one on the defense.  They had Pitt 1st and 20 at their own 10 with about 6:30 to go and never got off the field.  Pitt probably could have gotten a TD on that drive if they needed it...soft zones with no pressure and couldn't stop the run.  Second straight game with no sacks and now have only gotten 1 turnover in the last three games.

Don't know why they were playing the soft zones. Made no sense. Guess they were afraid of giving up the big play.

I lay the blame on whoever is calling the plays. Given Vick's turnover problem, why did they have him run the ball on that first drive? Give it to Shady or Brown to run it in.
