2013 Salary Cap

using www.eaglescap.com

Currently 45.8M under.

Potential Cuts (Cap Savings)
Vick (12.7) 7M saved on redoing contract
Nnamdi (11.3)
Bell (9.6)

Add these up and it is pretty easy for us to get to 30M+ under the cap.

Other less likely cuts
D Ryans (6.7)
Mike Patterson (4)
Jenkins (4)

Re: 2013 Salary Cap

Vick and Nnamdi each have about 4M in dead money.  So compared to being cut outright, any salary reduction they make needs to take that into account.

So Vick, with 4.2M in dead money, if he redoes his contract to a 4.2M paragraph 5, the Eagles would still save the 12.7M in cap space that they would have had they released him...in other words, say Vick agrees to reduce his contract to 8.2M, it would actually only cost the Eagles 4M in cap spaces when compared to where they would be if they released him outright.

Re: 2013 Salary Cap

what kinda cap room is a good number to go into an offseason with?  40M sounds pretty good, I'd like it if Vick restructured we have to many holes to plug to make another one nnamdi without a doubt should be cut.  I hope Ryans stays he seemed like one of the few bright spots last year and patterson and jenkins I can see going any which of ways. at least financially they have options and room to rebuild

40M is awesome.   20M is very good...we should be in great cap shape, but is it a good free agent class?   You dont want to throw money away on garbage, and whatever we dont use can be rolled forward to 2014.

Thats awesome it gives Chip the ability of getting himself grounded here and bringing in and removing the personnel he does or doesnt see fitting.  I'm excited he financially has the room to get his feet planted in Philly he needs a few FA additions but I'm hoping more for a reliable strong draft

Bell down, two to go.

I wonder what the fair market value is of Nnamdi and Vick.

Re: 2013 Salary Cap

Thank god this waste of space and just about everything else is outta here.  I can't see nnamdis being to high hes showed nothing in 2 years and we should be happy just to get his outrageous contract off the books. I'd say a fifth for vick sixth maybe and a hopefully a conditional pick the following year he is 33 and has had two lackluster seasons in a row under his belt definately gives him two black eyes on the open market but he also has the ability to start so his situation should be interesting throughout the offseason and can see him getting as much from third this year and a mid round pick or conditional pick next year.

Re: 2013 Salary Cap

We have cap space already. And with some good draft picks (assuming Howie doesn't mess it up) and a couple FA's we will be OK.

Nnamdi.... always loved the guy..... until he got here and played bad. I chalked last season up to new system and strike  and such.... this year he just flat out sucked... Take a pay cut to stay maybe? I feel he has something to prove to show he is an elite CB still.

Re: 2013 Salary Cap

he'll be 32 when the season starts too, he definately needs a pay cut even that said I dont think he should be here

Re: 2013 Salary Cap

I would offer him about 5-6M, thats only a M or two above the dead cap he would create if cut.

Re: 2013 Salary Cap

I wouldnt be completely upset if we retained him with the hope he could be half the player he was in Oak, but he's been so bad his two years here I don't see him being a tenth of that guy and wouldnt lose any sleep over his departure. Theres no excuse for how bad he's been beaten on the field if he does stay hopefully they can get him to restructure which I doubt it's something he'll do but crazier has happened

Re: 2013 Salary Cap

Vick redoes his contract, now a one year deal at reduced money...take about 4.2 M off of whatever his one year deal is, and that is what it will cost us vs a outright release.

Re: 2013 Salary Cap

$3.5M signing bonus, paid by April 15
$3.5M salary
500k roster bonus
500k 50% playtime
$1M 90% playtime
$1M SB win

so best realistic case, a 8M 1 year deal...about 3.75M more than we would of paid him (cap space wise) than an outright release...a good piece of business.

Re: 2013 Salary Cap

Nmamdi gone.

Keep in mind the 45.8M is inflated by 23M rollover...this means if you max out this year you will likely be in cap trouble next year.   I would expect that the club is really working with the mindset of 30-35M in cap space or so...that way they can roll some forward for next year.
