The Redskins are riding a seven-game winning streak into Sunday’s game against the Seahawks and one of the biggest reasons for their turnaround after a 3-6 start has been the improved play of the defense.
They forced 15 turnovers and sacked quarterbacks 18 times over the course of the winning streak and one of the key players on the unit has been recognized for his efforts in making that happen. Linebacker London Fletcher is the NFC defensive player of the month for December.
Fletcher had interceptions in three consecutive December games and then capped off the month with two sacks of Tony Romo in last Sunday’s division clinching 28-18 win against the Cowboys. Fletcher also racked up 51 tackles over the course of the month, allowing him to finish the year as Washington’s leading tackler.http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2013/01/03/lo ndon-fletcher-named-nfc-defensive-player-of-the-mo nth/
