Time's Up.

I don't take any pleasure out of seeing the winningest HC in Eagles history leave. But it needed to happen. Thanks for the memories Andy. Good luck in the future.

It's Official: Eagles announce Reid out as head coach

December 31, 2012, 10:04 am

It's official.

The Eagles on Monday announced that Andy Reid will not return next season as head coach. A press conference will be held at noon and be carried live on CSNPhilly.com (right here, starting at 11:30 a.m.) and Comcast SportsNet.

"Andy Reid won the most games of any head coach in Eagles history and he is someone I respect greatly and will remain friends with for many years to come,” owner Jeffrey Lurie said in a statement released by the team. "But, it is time for the Eagles to move in a new direction. Coach Reid leaves us with a winning tradition that we can build upon. And we are very excited about the future.

Reid's tenure ends after 14 seasons (see story) as head coach, nine playoff appearances, five NFC Championship games and one Super Bowl appearance. He has won more games (140 including playoffs) than any coach in team history.

Should have happened last year.  First 6 years were magical.  Last 8 years have been the very definition of mediocre (66-61-1 record).

Love Reid but the days of our dominating are long gone.    I remember 1 year we had the East mathematically won in November.

Yep. Rhodes and Kotite 65-62-1. Andy was a class act. Did a lot for this franchise. Sorry to see it end like this, but it needed to happen.

Everyone saw this coming. We all wanted him gone over the past couple years. Now that it happened, we will see just how much he was appreciated. Hopefully we won't go backwards. We will get a good HC and some solid OC and DC to put us back on top.

I still don't think that we're all that far away from having a possibly very good team. Depends on who they choose as our new coaches. We've got a solid base of young players with a lot of potential. If they trim the dead weight (Vick, Nnamdi, Bell, Dunlap). Fix our secondary in FA and the draft. And instill some discipline in this team, so that we're not beating ourselves with turnovers and mistakes, we'll be fine. Add a suitable LB, CB and S in the draft (and Star Lotulelei biggrin).  A little OL depth. Could be done in a year or two, and we could be back in contention.
