2013 Draft
Looks like we're going to end up with the #4 pick. Based on what I saw in today's game I'm for taking Star Lotulelei. Cole, Cox, Lotulelei and Graham on the DL sounds pretty good to me right now. After that, Every DB that's available.

Re: 2013 Draft
It figures a year we stink there's no can't miss QB and it's generally considered a weak draft. IDK if all the underlassmen have declared yet, so I guess there's still a chance of a few more studs declaring.
With Geno Smith having a pretty average bowl game, it wouldn't surprise me if he was no longer a top 3 pick. Not sure Lotulelei will be there at 4, although if we get him I won't complain.
I wouldn't mind trading down to like 8 and picking up a few more high picks if Lotulelei is gone at 4 and getting a guy like Milliner. God knows we have a lot of holes to fill, including an entirely new secondary. I'd imagime will pick up SOMEBODY in FA for the secondary, but we'll need to spend yet more high picks to fix it, thanks to the epic busts we have there now.

If we stay at #4 I wouldn't be disappointed with Lotulelei, Joeckel or Te'o. But I wouldn't have any real problem dropping down for somebody like Milliner and more picks either. Anybody's got to be better than that overpaid bust Nnamdi. We surely need the help with our DB's. If not for that I'd want to stay at #4. But those guys that we're paying for now are just so pathetic......

RE: 2013 Draft
If Joekel is a franchise LT then I hope they grab him. The OL has lot of injuries and age, and with what we saw with the Peters injury, and just how impactful it was, was a harsh lesson in just how valuable that anchor is.
Eagles/Indiana/Mets/Villanova: it's a long story

Re: 2013 Draft
Yeah Joekel can play RT next year and until Peters is gone, and then move to LT. Herremans moves to RG next year and say bye bye to Fire Marshall Bill...worst 1st round pick since Jon Harris. I heard an interview with him where he was asked if football or firefighting was better, and he had to think about it, and said they were similar. Clearly he doesn't love playing football and it shows.

Re: 2013 Draft
I always cringe when we pick a guy much older than his college competition....in a physical game like football older kids have a big advantage over 20 year olds...McDougal and Watkins come to mind

Re: 2013 Draft
Although I'm still praying Peters will come back healthy but I hope they go after and sign Sebastian Vollmer in free agency. The Eagles need more depth on the o-line. I like to see Luke Joeckel play right tackle for the Eagles next year but if they don't draft Joeckel at #4, I hope they draft Jarvis Jones.

Re: 2013 Draft
We desperately need two safeties early and if there's a year to do it, it's this year. We also desperately need at least one linebacker and a CB to replace Nnamdi. then of course we need QB, and a TE, and a right tackle, maybe. I don't think OL is our first need. We had an entire starting O line hurt this year. They'll be plenty rested for 2013. Maybe you get a talented right tackle.

Re: 2013 Draft
Joekle is awesome...once the NFL hype machines are in full gear, we might have to trade up to get him. Get ready for 'the best tackle prospect in a decade' type of analysis.

Re: 2013 Draft
Want Joeckel or Te'o. One a stud OT, the other a stud LB. Te'o, Ryans and Kendricks = best LB corps since Joyner, Evans and Thomas...

But also consider Cole, Cox, Lotulelei and Graham. Or Peters, Mathis, Herremans and Joeckel. I'll be happy with any of the above. After that, every DB that we can get our hands on.

Go with Foles and Edwards and see what happens. There's always next year for a QB if Foles doesn't pan out like we hope. I'm comfortable with Foles and Edwards based on what I've seen from them so far.

Could you imagine if this was the 2014 draft and not the 2013 draft? QB's usually go first and the Eagles would be, soo close to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W26Dcns1Mxg my gosh

Re: 2013 Draft
I know people have problems with him because he failed drug tests, but I think the Honey Badger is going to be great in the NFL. Obviously I'm not one to pick the easy ones. LOL. This is a guy who like Dawkins you can build a defense around if he can put down the weed. Mathieu generates turnovers everywhere and he's an even better returner. He's an outstanding early second round pick if available who is truly worth 4th overall. Not saying we pick him 4th....

He's small and has those pesky character issues. But he can play, and we really need help with our secondary. I'd take a chance on him in the later rounds. The only reason he's in this years draft is because he got kicked off the team at LSU. What else was he going to do?

Re: 2013 Draft
Matheui can obviously play at the big time college level, but he's 5'9" 180#. I don't think he'd last long at the pro level. I'd still use a late round pick on him, because even a half season of him is better than any safety we currently have.
