Eagles sign Jake Scott, release Vandervelde

"Scott, 31, has started 121 games at guard for the Colts and Titans. He can play tackle but will work at guard for the Eagles, according to a team source. The Eagles signed Scott after working him out earlier in the day."

Meh I guess he might be better than Kelley or Fire Marshall Bill, but TBH if he was any good, he probably wouldn't be available week 11 of the season.

Well he is a vet so it shouldn't take long to pick up the offense. God knows we can use any type of help on the OL.

Apparently it's his own decision to still be available.

Seeking more than the veteran minimum, free agent OG Jake Scott has turned down several offers from teams throughout the offseason and training camp.
"I'm not angry," said Scott. "This is my decision. It is a business and it is my decision not to be on a team right now." Scott started 121 consecutive games through 2011 and graded out as a top-10 guard by Pro Football Focus last season. Titans RG Leroy Harris, his replacement, was yanked late in the opener in favor of Kevin Matthews. Sep 12 - 9:31 AM

Yep. He shouldn't have any trouble picking up the O. He played for Mudd in Indianapolis the first 4 years of his career. And it's not like we'll be in any worse shape than we are now if he doesn't work out. I think it's a good move.
