n.f.l.com and network thinks Carr should start.

Allen's response: we have 3 guys that can start. No you dont Allen, you only have two capable guys and 8 million dollars wasted. You drafted Carr because you saw something in him. Or because he fell into the lap of Reggie ala Mack. Or, Mark Davis was in love with Carr. Weather it was one or a combination of things is irrelevant, what is relevant though is Matt Schaub doesn't look too good. In fact, he looks as though he can cost coaching jobs on the field and by doing the right thing by benching him with his bloated salary looks as though he can cost a front office job. Tough decision either way......

They have ONE guy who can be a STARTER

They do have three guys who can START a GAME.

But only Carr is a legitimate NFL starter IMO.

SChaub was until his pysci was destroyed and his "elbow" got "sore"

Schaub was a decent QB three or four years ago.

McGloin is a nice back up starter for one game or so, but only one QB on this team should be considered for the starting QB job IMO and that is Carr.  FUTURE IS NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Never argue with an idiot, people watching may not be able to tell the difference.

Some chick in a tight red dress flirting with the camera does not a football expert make. However, I think Carr and McGloin make a good 1-2 combination. Still need a top WR/TE combo.

First, I don't take anything Allen says seriously. Regardless of why things happened I was against the Schaub trade from the beginning.  My reasoning was he was too old and too expensive and not a franchise QB. My thoughts at this stage of the rebuild was to keep McGloin, Edwards, pick up some guy from the Canadian league, and draft one. Bridgewater was my original choice.  I would have gone with McGloin and Pryor Canadian guy and draft pick, but Pryor wanted to be traded. And then have a competition.
As far as Schaub costing coaching jobs I don't know. Maybe it was Mark Davis who wanted to do the Schaub deal. Maybe that's what he's used to watching his dad. Just like I think it was more Al Davis than Jackson who wanted Palmer, a guy he always admired and really wanted to draft out of USC. And Plunkett and Gannon. He tried it with Jeff George and Hostetler. Stabler was the last successful QB the Raiders drafted.

I would love to see Carr get the start and succeed.  However, If the decision  is to start Schaub I would not be mad.  Preseason is preseason, I would not get too excited about anything during preseason.  Besides, I would want to be sure our offensive line is solid and playing well together before I put my franchise quarterback out there.  What's the rush.  The plan from the start was not to rush him; which is why we went out and spent serious dollars on getting Schaub.  Let him take the punishment while our line gets solidified and firing on all cylinders.
