Mcgloin should be the starter

Mcgloin should be the starter

As I agreed last week with Raw Mcgloin shows once again why he should be the #1. Forget the t.d drive at the end because he reminds me of Rich Gannon; always counted out, always overlooked but some how gets it done. Schaub will start because of the mistake contract Reggie signed him to but imo it would be a mistake. My depth chart would be: Mcgloin/Carr/king ( yes the punter )/ then Schaub. The reason I put king at 3 is so Schaub never sees the field....at least in Oakland. ..

If it wasn't for Andre Holmes being such a crappy receiver, McGloin would have looked like a pro bowler. Schaub is exactly what I thought he was. Horrible. I thought Carr showed promise. He overshot a couple receivers but for a rookie from Fresno St. playing in the NFL, he did pretty well. The difference is, Schaub makes bad decisions.

agree. McGloin shows grit, toughness, and knows how to play with a shyt OL,  see Schaub getting killed behind this shyt OL

McGloin should have a chance to play with 1st team.....Not sold on DMAC until he plays 10 games into the season

D.Allen will be fired at break

He is going to be a solid coach in a few years. He will live out his contract because no top coach wants the job until we start winning again.  RM should be on the hot seat as well.  His draft selections are suspect.  Trading TP may haunt them both if he matures in Pete and Wilson.

Someone, it wasn't the players, turned things around about 5 minutes into the 2nd qtr. Someone made changes to what we were doing on both sides of the ball. We got defensive stops (not all but some), we had an offense moving and came back and win the game. I don't see the credit being given where it's due on that. It wasn't RM, I'm not saying it was DA, but it was either DA or his coordinators who made the adjustments. Unless you are saying our 2nd / third and scrubs are that much better than Detroit's? Which I doubt.

One big advantage for McGloin is that he was in this system last year. You could see the confidence. Gotta like his fire.

Re: Mcgloin should be the starter

What happened is the the Raiders got a few calls that went their way. One negated a Jano FG which gave the Raiders instead, a first down. That's when the run blocking changed. The O line was actually playing in unison and MJD and DMC both started getting yards. I remember this because when it happened I thought "FINALLY!! the Raiders are learning how to run the ball". So I think it was Olsen and Sparano who made some changes in blocking schemes. Using 2 TE's etc. IMO, they were being more aggressive in the run game. As far as the defense goes, they played pretty crappy until the 2nd and 3rd teams were in. That's when Tarver started calling more aggressive plays.

Re: Mcgloin should be the starter

I've always like McGloin and with his second year in this system I thought he would be the best to start the season or this year period. I will agree though he was playing against number 2 and 3's, but think of it this way he played vs starters last year and now with revamped O line better running game and a few new wr's he might be able to do better than Schaub imo who hasn't impressed much thus far.
