The Raiders look to be in mid-season form... dropped balls, tipped balls for int's, blown coverages, etc., etc.

Re: Raiders/Vikings pre season thread

Well I WAS really excited to see what Schaub was gonna do and missed the first quarter, but after hearing about it and looking at the stats guess I didn't miss much. Between him, Carr and the wr's dropping everything it wasn't pretty. Hopefully we run run run and run the ball some more. Only we're gonna win anything from the rush yards average and this big arsed line we have now.

Re: Raiders/Vikings pre season thread

I just watched the game.  I'll cut the starting defense some slack because they are old and probably didn't want to play hard in pre season but I didn't see anything positive about this game.  McGloin should be named the starter day one. Chekwah is the best DB on the squad. First team passing offense looked horrible. We don't have a TE or Receiver who can do anything in the blocking or passing game.
so sad But not unexpected. After that performance, I don't even want to hear Dennis Allen speak again.

To many dropped balls we need WR's and TEs that can catch the ball.

Re: Raiders/Vikings pre season thread

And how a bout a defensive line that can stop the run? The stats are deceiving as most of the Vikings rush yards came against the Raiders first team defense.
Offensively  everything was as expected if you listened to fans on message boards since the draft : Inconsistent O line, bad WR's, horrible TE's and QB's who can't throw.
"Were going to run the ball" B. f'n S. 18 rushing attempts vs 41 passing attempts. I hope Dennis Allen doesn't make it past the pre season.

Re: Raiders/Vikings pre season thread

That was a really sad effort.

Who'd have thought the two "top" players in our forum posts today would be McGloin and Chekwa?   WTF....what about our overall #1 pick?  What about our QB of the future (not yet), and all those DL/OL vets and rookies aiming be the catalyst of our future....oh and we got so many great WR's we don't need a serious FA signing.....uh huh.

I gotta imagine you must be pretty smart to become a HC in the NFL right?  I think this smart guy knows he's their to collect his last pay check.

I guess it did not help us plying against one of the best O lines in the NFC.

I didn't realize the Vikings had one of the best O lines in the NFC.  I guess my Raider fandom got in the way because I was expecting the Raiders to have one of the best front 7 in the NFL. So yeah, it didn't help. The Raiders starting D line was ranked top 5 in my head and now they are bottom 3

Regardless of how much the Raiders roster changes, improves, whatever, Dennis Allen and his coaching staff need to prove they can legitimately coach at the NFL level.  Raiders played like they did not practice at all. Raiders looked awful

Perhaps Dennis Allen feels he can get away with another 4-12 season

Re: Raiders/Vikings pre season thread

I think he does think he can get away with another 4-12 season. I guarentee he'll just keep making exucses for the way this team plays. According to him, we only lost because we didn't understand the new rules.

Please, Little Al, fire this joke and Frankenberry. They are not NFL caliber and we all are suffering. Actually, that's not true…we are all leaving.

Re: Raiders/Vikings pre season thread

There is at least one true way to tell if a coach is successful.....the attitude of the players. Yep they are saying the right things. However the performance on the field shows a lack of effort and energy. The coach has to give them the "want to" factor. I didn't see a shred of it during the game where it counts. Saw flashes of talent in the run game and saw some good OL play in the run game. I also saw a lot of players standing around. I saw a lot of players not hustling. I mean you are trying to make the team so give it your best. If this is your best, go play for Pittsburgh.

That's true, especially of the younger crowd.  The Raiders created a large fan base in Los Angeles when they moved but few of those remember the 1970's Raiders. There are the fans who became fans during the Gruden years and the trip to the super bowl. They don't remember the 3 Lombardi trophies or the season that led up to them. They are the young one's who are going to leave the fastest. The LA fans are drying up because a) the Raiders suck and b) they aren't in L.A. anymore.
They are writing the book on how to lose your fan base. Then there are the fans who remember the 70's and possibly the 60's too. And that base is aging.  So yeah, leaving one way or another.
