First training camp injuries

Nick Kasa, Lucans Nix, CJ Wilson, Stacy McGee, McGill. Nothing too serious. Hayden may miss the entire camp and part of the regular season if his healing doesn't speed up.

Hayden may miss his entire career if his injuries don't stop.

Lack of depth issue...Raiders put a lot of stock in Haydens success this season.

I almost feel guilty because I was a Hayden believer when we picked him. Skills were at a higher level than you would typically coming out of college. But given the fact that he had such an unusual and severe injury, he should have been treated like other such prospects and selected in the later rounds.

Remember that Reggie has already gone on record and said he would have selected Hayden with the #3 overall draft pick had he not been able to trade back.  Can you imagine that line of thinking???!?!?!?!

Re: First training camp injuries

BOTTOM LINE!!  We do not have the patience or time to spend one ounce of energy hoping for another injury prone player to come around.  I say we put Hayden on PUP, and use the money we have in Cap room from savings on Burnett, to pick up another DB and a veteran WR.  These two positions are our true weak spots, and without them being handled, we will not win 8 games.

SO- WHO IS OR WILL BE AVAILABLE AT WR AND DB??  That is the real questions.

Agree Reggie has options,  Reggie drafted damaged goods with DJ Hayden - time to move on

releasing Burnett opens up some funds watch for Reggie to sign another CB once cuts start to occur.

Never argue with an idiot, people watching may not be able to tell the difference.

Re: First training camp injuries

Even if he doesn't come back until after the Bye we should be better if we do not get more significant injuries to the other DB's.  He played little last year and I can understand why fans are irritated that RM took him so high considering the type injury he had, but these injuries are unrelated so I just worry the foot injury heals fine.  It will give some of the other guys a chance to get more reps.

These are pre camp injuries since today was the first time they took the field.

Yeah that. Plus he can't cover WR's. Great tackler though.

Re: First training camp injuries

Granted I felt like banging my head against the wall when I found out Hayden is injured again I will never fault a player for being injury prone.I don't get how some can play 10 years and others cant make it out of camp but what can Hayden do?Its a violent sport and injuries are part of it.I have no prob signing another cb but I would rather sign some more de to help the secondary out and hope Hayden can come back by the start of the season and contribute in some way.Was thinking this means rook  McGil would be getting more reps but he is injured too banghead.

Re: First training camp injuries

He has a foot injury. Probably not related to his heart and hernia injuries. I feel the same about McFadden and Justin Fargas.  Fargas highlight link vid
Gotta be careful of people stepping on your feet. They don't do it by accident. McGill has also had a history of injury.
McGill will be fine hopefully. Although he is another CB prone to injury. I'm expecting a lot from him

He took a year off before starting junior college and was a fifth year senior which is why he is 25-years-old. His age and injury are part of the reason he was still on the board in the fourth round. There was also some off the field issues.

He missed the entire 2012 season with a medical redshirt rehabbing a serious shoulder injury. Then he was arrested for a DUI. He needed to step back and re-examine things. He had a one-year-old daughter as well.

"All that stuff was years ago, two years ago," said McGill. "I've been trying to stay clean and I've been trying to show everybody that that was the past and that's exactly what it was. Obviously that's going to come up because it's a concern for teams. But all the teams that passed on me they are going to realize it's a big mistake and the Oakland Raiders are going to realize that it's probably a rally good draft pick."
