As the Raiders try to solve a stadium situation that currently has no clear answer in the Bay Area, a former Raider who never played in Oakland has a preferred outcome.

Move back to Southern California.

“I’d rather see — I know people in Oakland won’t like this — the team back in Los Angeles,” Hall of Famer Marcus Allen told NBCSN at the American Century Celebrity Golf Championship in Lake Tahoe.  “I think it’s a viable option. . . .We can’t have them back at the [L.A.] Coliseum, the Coliseum now is USC’s home. . . . But there’s some locations there that I know I’ve talked to a few owners [about] and I know that they’ve liked. I can’t divulge my sources though.”

Allen wasn’t bashful about divulging his opinion that the time has come to leave Oakland, again.

“I just think it’s ripe right now, being the second largest market and being the entertainment capital of the world it’s almost necessary to have a team there,” Allen said. “And I think with the corporate support and the brand that has already been there, that’s been established, that has a huge following, I think it’d be a no-brainer.”

Allen also believes it’s a no-brainer that the Raiders should avoid sharing the 49ers’ new stadium, even though Commissioner Roger Goodell would like them to do it.

“That’s not the Raiders,” Allen said.  “The Raiders don’t share things. . . . I don’t think Al [Davis] would like it, I can say that right now. He wouldn’t be happy at all because to him it’s the Raiders and 31 other teams.”

Of course, the may end up sharing a stadium in Los Angeles. But it would be an easier pill for the Raiders to align with a team like the Rams than their long-time rivals from San Francisco who will play in Santa Clara.

Hmmmm.... a few owners? Does that mean Allen is saying a few other teams are looking to move to L.A.?

I assume the Rams are good bet to be one of the teams considering a move (back) to LA.   The Jaguars are the other one that should be looking at it.
It really does amaze me that the NFL has allowed so many years to go by without a team being in LA.  I mean WTF - a small market, dumpy town like Jacksonville has a team but not LA? Every other sports league has 2 teams in the LA/OC market but the NFL which prides itself in being the most business savvy sports league has none, hard to figure.

Re: Marcus Allen wants Raiders to move back to Los Angeles

Also interesting that Los Angeles is one of 2 cities being considered to host the 2015 draft. Chicago being the other. I remember Ice Cube saying something like "It will be a long time before L.A. gets an NFL team. Every stadium build in the last 15 years was built on the threat of the team moving to L.A. if they don't build a new stadium". (or something like that).
I know the Rams have expressed interest in moving back to L.A. but Jacksonville? I always hear their name mentioned as possible candidates but I've never heard anyone from the Jags org say they wanted to move. They have a great new stadium. I think the rumors came from them threatening to move to L.A. if they didn't get the renovations approved.

Jacksonville just completed a $63M stadium renovation. Their contract runs through 2030. In order to move earlier they have to show they lost money one year and were below the league average the following two years. Otherwise they pay a $100M penalty.

Re: Marcus Allen wants Raiders to move back to Los Angeles

The Raiders will never come to LA as long as the Davis family owns them.
Reasons

1. Mark Davis does not have the money to move he would have to give part of his shares to fund the move by sell shares he has said in the Media NO WAY.

2. He would have to get a majorty vote 2/3 or around there to get league approval he will never get that.

3. Money again relocation fees around 250 million he says he has 400 million but that is including 200 Million from the NFL and they don't want him in LA. there 200 million is for building a stadium.

4. The Mayor of LA and some council members want a team NFL  in LA but have said in the Media they do not want the Raiders.

5. Where would he play in LA area no stadium he can't use the old LA  coliseum that is USCs house now, everyone willing to build a stadium wants controlling interested of the Raiders as Mark said NO Way.

...."The league is evaluating various sites in the L.A. area and looking into alternative financing models for a stadium, including paying for one itself as opposed to having an individual owner foot the bill.

"Whatever gets us a team in L.A., that would be awesome," said New England's Robert Kraft, among the league's most influential owners. "That might be the solution. Whatever it takes, I know I'd be willing to support.""

Because I live in Socal I only care they stay in Oakland because of the long time fans.  LA Dodgers fans can be as crazy as out of control Raiders fans so I'm not sure why a town would say the Raiders fans are a criminal element if that is what they're saying.

Well he may have to do something like that regardless of any new stadium they play at

2. He would have to get a majorty vote 2/3 or around there to get league approval he will never get that.

Why not? Doesn't every team who wants to move have to get that? Saying no to "just" the Raiders would mean the NFL wants them to stay in the Bay Area

3. Money again relocation fees around 250 million he says he has 400 million but that is including 200 Million from the NFL and they don't want him in LA. there 200 million is for building a stadium.

I don't know anything about that but I'd assume again that Davis would have to pay that relocation fee regardless of the city?

4. The Mayor of LA and some council members want a team NFL  in LA but have said in the Media they do not want the Raiders.

Eric Garcetti said the the L.A. Times that he is open to talking with any team about moving. His concern is he wants to do it on Los Angeles' terms, not the NFL's. Besides, I don't think he has much to say about who comes and neither does the city council and most of them won't even be in office by the time a new stadium is built.

5. Where would he play in LA area no stadium he can't use the old LA  coliseum that is USCs house now, everyone willing to build a stadium wants controlling interested of the Raiders as Mark said NO Way.

I don't think any team will move to L.A. without a new stadium. I heard that about the builders wanting controlling interest and I'm pretty sure any team would say no, so if L.A. wants any team they are either going to have to negotiate on that term. You think the Rams or Chargers would allow them controlling interest? I don't.  As far as people not wanting the Raiders back in L.A., I don't believe it. I remember a few years back I used to see at least 6 billboards that had nothing but the Raiders shield  - nothing else. No text, didn't say Oakland or Los Angeles.

Maybe maybe not chances are he will keep control if he gets a stadium in Oakland.

2. He would have to get a majorty vote 2/3 or around there to get league approval he will never get that.

Why not? Doesn't every team who wants to move have to get that? Saying no to "just" the Raiders would mean the NFL wants them to stay in the Bay Area

The NFL wants them to stay in the bay area did you see Roger Goodell,

"They have to make that determination, whether they're in a new stadium in Oakland or whether they feel that it's best to join this stadium," with the 49'ers Goodell said, according to the Bay Area Sports Guy, who tweeted the commissioner's remarks. "We're working on that, and that's one of the decisions they'll have to make."

The Raiders are in the final year of their lease at the Coliseum and are interested in building a new stadium at the site.

3. Money again relocation fees around 250 million he says he has 400 million but that is including 200 Million from the NFL and they don't want him in LA. there 200 million is for building a stadium.

Not if he stays in Oakland.

4. The Mayor of LA and some council members want a team NFL  in LA but have said in the Media they do not want the Raiders.

Besides, I don't think he has much to say about who comes and neither does the city council and most of them won't even be in office by the time a new stadium is built.
That is yet to be seen Garcetti did make the comment about not wanting the Raiders back as he feels it will bring in crime. "It just can't be the Raiders, because we have gone down in crime every year since they left," Garcetti said, receiving a roar of approval. He has said this on more than one occasion.  Mayor debate April 11 2013

5. Where would he play in LA area no stadium he can't use the old LA  coliseum that is USC's house now, everyone willing to build a stadium wants controlling interested of the Raiders as Mark said NO Way.

I remember a few years back I used to see at least 6 billboards that had nothing but the Raiders shield  - nothing else. No text, didn't say Oakland or Los Angeles.

Sure no team owner in his right mind wold give up controlling interest. There are some owners that can afford to foot the bill or cost of a new stadium and keep there team ownership intact. "I have never heard of people in LA not wanting the team back I don't know where this came from".

Now me personally I don't care where they play I went to games when they played in LA. My main concern right now is "Wining".

There is one thing to add the ticket prices for seats in a new stadium regardless of any team any stadium and any location would not be cheap and would price out a lot of fans on RFN board we have a thread and it is showing around the league ticket prices at new venues Mainly season tickets with there PSL $20,000 and up  just for the right to buy tickets then add the cost of tickets on top of that single game tickets will go up as well. Not for me NFL Sunday Ticket looks better and better.
