TE Finley

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports the Raiders are showing interest in free agent Jermichael Finley, while he also visited the Steelers.

Finley's market appears to be heating up some, even after the Seahawks reportedly dropped out of the running. Finley visited the Patriots last Friday, though it's been reported they just want to review his medicals. The Steelers' team doctor performed Finley's neck surgery and recently cleared him for football activities. RapSheet reports Finley was recently in Pittsburgh to talk to the doctor once again. In Oakland, the Raiders are simply searching for someone to man tight end. Ex-Packer James Jones could help recruit Finley to the Black Hole.

Re: TE Finley

I'm beginning to realize that the TE position is the hardest position to fill at least for the Raiders. "In Oakland, the Raiders are simply searching for someone to man tight end. Ex-Packer James Jones could help recruit Finley to the Black Hole."
So the Seahawks gave up, the Patriots are not very interested, Pitt - who's doctors performed the surgery (I would have gone to a specialist rather than an NFL team doctor if I needed neck surgery but maybe that's just me) and now the Raiders need to use James Jones to recruit him? At this point, Finley should be begging anyone interested for a job. I guess he'd be ok to bring in for competition at a very low cost and it would be great for Schaub to have a TE he trusts.

My concerns are... why the hell is everyone else passing on this guy. We need a TE not a IR waiting to happen.

Re: TE Finley

Finley would be a decent pick up but have a feeling he will resign with GB as if he is going to play 1 yr deal might as well be for a playoff team he is familiar with already. If our te struggle I would sign a blocking te like Harstock or Crabtree and just use them as blockers in an I formation since we are going to a ground and pound attack and let Reese go in to motion.Schaub can read the def and motion Reese to the line or in the slot or stay at fb depending on what Schaub sees at the line.I would think that would be our best option as I dont have a lot of faith in any te on our roster and doubt we will find much of an upgrade in fa but maybe one will step up.
