Did you know.....

Did you know.....

There is only one QB in the history of the NFL who has less total yards in his career with the associated team than the top Oakland Raiders passers?
Pro football reference has Stabler as the QB with the most career passing yards for the Raiders at 19,078. Almost every other team other than the Bucks (Testeverde leads their franchise with 14,820) has a QB who's put up 28,000 to 60,000 yards. Even Schaub put up 23,200 yards for the Texans.
I understand that some players have been on the same team for a long time, or were starters longer than others but I thought it was an interesting stat.

That is very interesting but not really that much of a surprise if you look at it all the way back to Stabler. Besides him, i think almost ( or all ) q.b's we have drafted were not very good. The ones in which we went to super bowls ( besides Stabler ) were not drafted by us and in mid to late in thier respective careers. We really haven't seemed to be able to for whatever reason to pick up a franchise q.b since Stabler and thats been some of our woes but its not like they have not tried. Todd I felt was born to play q.b but instead he was born to smoke weed. Then there is j bust...enough said about him. Hopefully Carr will change that once and for all, or at least the next 12-15 years anyway.

Re: Did you know.....

good point but when you look at the production, there are not many QB who were drafted originally by the team they put up the most stats on. You have Troy Akiman, Ben Roslisburger, Peyton Manning, and then you have Steve Brunell who holds the record for passing yards for the Jags. Then you have Eli Manning with 35,000 yards who wasn't really drafted by the Giants, and Farve who has 61,600 who wasn't drafted by the Packers. Plunkett and Gannon are not far behind Stabler, and both went to the super bowl.
But you do make a good point on why Carr might fail in Oakland. Then go to another team to win a SB. LOL@ born to smoke weed.

Ahh Raw, have some faith in Carr. Im guessing at this point we are all in on Oakland so let us watch it play out. I believe Carr will succeed where his brother failed if only because his older brother can help him with advice. To be honest, this draft reminded me of the draft s.d had when they took L.T with the 5th pick then took Brees in the 2nd and then they became very competitive. I truly believe Mack can be just as advertised on the field and as much as I loved Pryor, Carr is a pure passer with Gannon like mobility.

Don't get me wrong. I have faith in Derek Carr. I also had faith in his brother David and think the only reason he failed is because he was drafted by the Texans and played on crappy teams the rest of his career.  I feel sort of the same way about Ryan Leaf . I also believe that Russell Wilson would be out of the NFL after a couple seasons had he not been drafted by the Seahawks.
