Does seymour have a job yet?

Richard Seymour thanks Falcons for trying to sign him

Richard Seymour signing with the Atlanta Falcons seemed to make too much sense.

Reasons why: The seven-time Pro Bowl defensive tackle resides in the area; his adopted son, DeVondre, has committed to play for his dad's alma mater, the University of Georgia; and Seymour has a strong relationship with Falcons general manager Thomas Dimitroff.

The one thing that hasn't seemed to match up between the two sides: money.

"I thank them for their efforts," Seymour told CBS Sports on Saturday night, saying the sides couldn't reach an agreement.

Seymour remains open to signing with the Falcons before training camp, but contract talks have subsided. He told NFL.com's Steve Wyche on Sunday that conversations with the Falcons aren't headed anywhere right now, but they might be visited again closer to training camp.

Last month, NFL.com's Ian Rapoport reported that while the Falcons had shown the most interest in Seymour, the veteran was comfortable enough to "walk into retirement" if a perfect situation didn't present itself. On Sunday, Wyche reported Seymour isn't limiting his options solely to the Falcons.

The most recent report backs up that thought process. Seymour won't play for peanuts. We'll see if down the road the Falcons become willing to shell out a few more dollars for a productive veteran lineman.

He is still unemployed there is a article (NFL.com Link) that he is ready to retire if he didn't get the right offer, It also states he don't  need to play football again. As one of the highest-paid players of his generation, Seymour can afford to be choosy..

He has money and doesn't care enough about a ring to try for one. That was why I like Romo when he came here he just wanted a ring and the money was ok but not the best. The part I enjoy in this is Seymour isn't with what he wants, and if he balks at playing THAT is how he will be remembered.

I wonder why the Falcons or any team for that matter were even interested in a player who thought that way? The Raiders paid Woodson a few million for one year with a $700,000 signing bonus and he's much more valuable an NFL player than a washed up DE. And I doubt Seymour would even consider a deal like that.
