Lechler's a Texan

Lechler's a Texan

Looks like it's for 3 years 5.5 million, plus the bonus of finishing his career near home. Sad to see him go but we knew it was coming. Thanks for the decade plus of booming punts.

Sad to see him go. Something that just had to happen. Wish him the very best.

One of the all-time Raider greats. Hate to see him leave, but it is best for the team at this time. I wish him well and hope he returns as a Raider when it's time for him to retire.

Re: Lechler's a Texan

I have to admit, I was a little pissed when Lechler opened his mouth and started breaking balls and airing his frustrations about the team and the coaching changes a couple years ago. All of Raider Nation on and off the field has been frustrated, but I didn't agree with his public rant, when Al Davis had been nothing but generous with him, making him the highest paid punter in NFL history.

I think Shane tended to have a big mouth for a mere kicker, and allegedly paid for some alcohol-induced comments to Terdell Sands. On the field however, he was neck and neck with Ray Guy as one of the greatest ever.He has a better chance of getting a ring with the Texans right now, than he did with us, so he deserves that opportunity. I wish him the best of luck.

RE: Lechler's a Texan

Lechler stuck around with a terrible team for a decade. No he probably shouldn't have said what he did in public, but if your company sucked and you spent that much time there, wouldn't you have some frustrations? I know I have in the past for places I've been for just a few years. Sometimes those frustrations come out. I don't blame him that much because he put in his time, it's not like he's a rookie or a free agent coming in talking like that.

With the outrageous contract he had I would stick around as well.
