Mike Mitchell leaving Raiders for Panthers

It looks like the Raiders are about to lose another of their restricted free agents. This time it’s strong safety Mike Mitchell. Here’s Joe Person of the Charlotte Observer: Free agent safety Mike Mitchell says he’s agreed to terms on a 1-year deal with #Panthers. Will compete w/ DJ Campbell and H Nakamura at SS. — March 20, 2013 And from Mitchell..

WOW. Had hopes he was going to be something for us but that never came to be. Beginning to wonder if we are going to have anybody back there next season.

Raider fan for life.

RE: Mike Mitchell gone

This article appears to have made a huge mistake. Mitchell is an unrestricted FA, not a restricted FA right?

Teams have a chance to match contracts for restricted FA, and if they don't match then depending on the tender they can get a)a 1st round pick, b) a 2nd round pick, or c) the round the player was drafted in. Mitchell was a 2nd round pick, the Panthers wouldn't sign him and risk giving us a 2nd round pick for a rotation guy.

GIO is a free agent though I doubt there is a ton of interest. Since Reggie like short term deals call up Aso and see if he's ready to play safety.
