Rex and Tanny get what's coming to them!
Rex seems to be getting upset with all the Tebow questions coming at him now. Especially with Sanchez and the team playing like crap. Now the heat is turning up and he is getting upset? Please; he and Tanny deserve all of it. Woody should take some heat also but he owns the team so ofcourse thats not possible.
As far as Rex and Tanny are concerned, they should have expected and prepared for this. Before Rex got here, we had a team of hard workers and more talent then attitude. Now, he and Tanny have come up with this dumb mastermind idea that they can get rid of all the team players, hard workers, good attitudes and true talent for knuckleheads. They honestly believe they can put anybody on the field and make it work. True enough T. Jones, T. Richardson, Faneca, Woody and Ellis for example has gotten old and it was time to move on but I believe they moved on from them to fast and did'nt replace them with the same talent and attitude. They should have atleast let the older players groom the younger players to becoming the best they could. Where are all the leaders on the team? They were all part of the Mangini, H. Edwards and Parcells regime.
They did not bring back J-co and Edwards but keep Holmes and replace them with Plax and Mason? What the hell was that about! Now they bring in Tebow? So now this team is falling apart by the seams and I don't see how they are going to be able to fix it. They don't have the talent and players with the correct attitude to do so. Holmes is a cancer, Cromartie is more attitude and hype then talent, linebackers getting old and slow etc... Their draft picks over the years have been horrible or average at best. The free agents overall have been average at best. Lt did what he could, Landry and Bell are upgrades but the WR's, offensive lineman etc... have been horrible. The Jets were a competitive playoff and Superbowl ready team when he got here and now he and Tanny have tore this team apart.
Overall if this does'nt change, sexy Rexy and Tanny might be looking for new employment and I ok with that. It might be best to clean the slate and start over, Sanchez and Tebow, Tanny and Rex, linebackers etc... Keep Revis ofcourse but there are'nt to many other players that are worth keeping beside him.

Re: Rex and Tanny get what's coming to them!
I've been saying it all along. Tannenbaum seems clueless when it comes to building a sound team and evaluating talent.....and his only success has come by riding the coat tails of Mangini. As for Rex, there's a reason nobody wanted him as a head coach. The guy is a loose cannon and his ability to work with management to construct a well rounded team is questionable. Rex needs to work for a GM with a strong personality and highly regarded football acumen. He's a great d-coordinator..no doubt... but my money says neither he or Tanny will retain similar roles in the NFL post J-E-T-S.

He had the offseason to make changes. He left Sanchez and Greene, and traded for Tebow. He hardly upgraded at LB, and left WFH. He is LUCKY that Howard has been decent. Tanny, and Terry Bradway should go if we are 8-8 or worse. Please.

Re: Rex and Tanny get what's coming to them!
I really like Rex and I want him to succeed. However, in order to do so he needs a GM that understands the game better than he does, a GM that is not easily persuaded by him.... a GM that has the confidence to make his own calls and rely on his own judgement.. In a nutshell, a GM that he respects as a football person...someone that he believes knows more than himself. Rex seems to think he knows it all...Tanny doesn't seem to know enough about building a successful team and there's Woody. They are clearly the blind leading the blind!

Re: Rex and Tanny get what's coming to them!
Its time for them both to go! Rex and Tanny have torn this team apart. If they would have drafted well, kept the right players, not signed Tebow etc... Sanchez might be a decent QB now. Even if Sanchez would not be, atleast we would have a team ready to compete and they would have to get a Qb to lead them. But now they have no where to turn. No true talent, no leaders and mostly all attitude players. They both most go!

Re: Rex and Tanny get what's coming to them!
The Jets came very close to winning the super bowl with a certain formula, and then they got cute.
I think they figured they were a few playmakers away from winning a Super Bowl. So they got Tomlinson and Holmes. They let go of O-Lineman and replaced them with nothing, and we've drafted absolutely terrible.
That team that came in and put a hurting on us, is a blueprint for what we could've been.
People say this is a passing league, I call BS. Some teams are very successful throwing it, but you don't have to.
Ravens, run the football, play defense. So do the Texans, so do the 49ers. I actually think they're the three best teams in football now to.

We used to have the team to compete with the likes of the 49ers, Ravens, Texans, Seahawks and Steelers. Now we are a joke. They are the teams Rex wants us to be, we once were and could have still been but he and Tanny have torn the team apart. Rex and Tanny are to blame here and they must go! I wanted Rex to succeed and like his attitude when he first got here. However, that started changing in year 3 and it has officially changed this year. They must go and its time to start over or we will be looking at years of BS and garage. Jets fans have been through enough of that for YEARS AND YEARS AND YEARS and don't deserve to have to go back to it. True enough, all teams go through down years but this is ridicilious. In two years we go from 11-5 and an AFC championship game to no hope of competing at all this year and for years to come if we don't change this now. Rex and Tanny must go!

Re: Rex and Tanny get what's coming to them!
The company line this year will be that the team was devastated by injuries. Expect at least another year of these two.

Re: Rex and Tanny get what's coming to them!
For all you posters that want Tanny and Rex gone, be careful what you wish for...
Success in the NFL is about consistency. Look at the successful franchises: Giants, Steelers, Patriots, Eagles to name a few. They don't fire GM's and head coaches after a bad loss, or even a bad year. They self scout and improve on their weaknesses. They learn to draft, coach and manage better.
There was huge speculation about Coughlin's job status with the Giants after they went 8-8 and folded down the stretch a few years ago. But the Giants stuck with their plan, drafted well and well, you know the rest.
Who do you want the Jets to be like? The Redskins or Dolphins who are rebuilding every 3-4 years when another regime is fired. Or a consistent, winning franchise.
I say keep Tanny and Ryan. Ryan can coach, no doubt about it. I think if something needs a shake up, it's the Jets scouting department. They have been awful in self scouting, and even worse with the draft. And that has to come from the top (read: Woody Johnson).

Re: Rex and Tanny get what's coming to them!
ASSUMING that they can't right this ship, and it's WAY to early to draw that conclusion......
I think the team needs a change of management style, not necessarily management itself. They need to scout better and draft better. They need better conditioning, more focus on depth, and MUCH, MUCH, MUCH more discipline.
IMO, this is a soft, and undisciplined, team with a personnel mix that does not work on the field. It might be all sunshine and roses off the field, I don't know, but it doesn't click on the field.
If it gets to that however,I think major personnel turnover will be needed to turn this around.

Re: Rex and Tanny get what's coming to them!
I agree...Dump Tanny. The dream is to bring in Polian who has a great track record. He would serve as a invaluable model for Rex. I think Tanny gets a kick out of Rex and laughs at all of his jokes etc. That is not what Rex needs to grow as a HC. Get a football guy to run the ship and keep Rex. It makes absolutely NO SENSE to dump Rex who has been the most successful Jets Head coach in history, aside from Weeb. Parcells and Rex are neck and neck but if we are debating a fine line between Rex and Parcells, that should tell everyone how valuable Rex really is. How can a fanbase of this franchise want to dump a man that has been more successful than Mangini, Edwards, Groh, Parcells (2 championship games), Kotite, Carroll, Coslet, Walton, Michaels, Holtz etc. We should be jumping for joy that we have a very good coach who actually want to stay here for the next two decades and be our coach. You do not throw out the baby with the bathwater. joe94132 wrote: I really like Rex and I want him to succeed. If Tannenbaum is the guy responsible for the scouts he has and has made decisions based on their work, what gives anyone the confidence he even knows how to find the right people? He can't draft enough impact players.

That is interesting. Gholston or not, the Mangini foundation was solid. The Favre situation and Mangini naming his kid Brett was a screwup for the young coach. Otherwise, he was Mangenius and the foundation was pretty good.

Jets had that silly camp competition with Chad and Clemens which was over before it started......and then the next year Tannenbaum had to get his splash guy-Favre. Now maybe Mangini was riding shotgun the whole time in both cases, but clearly somebody here in that offcie cannot judge offensive talent to say the least.

Re: Rex and Tanny get what's coming to them!
Well I just listen to Rex and when asked how he planned to fix things he said "duno." Really, I mean really Rex your that clueless? If so then you are part of the problme and not the solution... just saying. l been a Rex fan but have criticize him for is hyperbole. The team has been inconsistent since last year and ended at 500 and after this week’s debacle and his comments, I have little faith that he can get this team to play better than they have the last two weeks and while I am not willing to pull the plug on him, I do agree that Tanny should be kicked upstairs as SR VP of team opts and get a FOOTBALL person in here to fix the scouting department and read Rex the riot act...as in get you team to play, competitive physical football...something that has been lacking for awhile...and if you can not then your the wrong man for the job. BTW - if we get embarrassed two weeks in a row… then count me off the REX bandwagon.
