Re: Jets to Get 4 Compensatory picks / Official Draft Order

Interesting, for me at least, that the Jets and Packers will be alternating on 4 picks, #241-#244, at the end of the draft, as well as another pair of Rd 7 picks at #232 - Jets - & #235 - Packers, AND - a Packers pick at #224 they got from the Jets.

It'll be an interesting comparative study of the 2 organizations, (Packers Draft & Develop v Jets liberal use of FA), and their draft teams, as we watch those 7 players evolve or not in the league.

well, I don't know what all those 6 and 7 round picks will mean. Not exactly brimming with confidence this regime will find gold, silver or bronze. I hope to be proved wrong.

At least it is a free shot at guys we would have otherwise "tried" to get as undrafted free agents..especially positions we need more depth in....can take a flier on someone who would have competition going after him....

Although I still dont fully understand the thoery of why comp picks came about...I understand "how" they work and are awarded..but why should teams be given a reward for letting their guys walk ??  I mean  Houston is going to have an extra 3rd already next year for Mario..it like saying.."well  the guy is too expensive for us...and even though maybe we mishandled and poorly ran our own salary cap and we have to let the guy walk..we will still get something for him  "

or  like the Giants " we have depth at WR  so we will not attempt to sign Manningham..but we will still get a 4th or 5th for him.".noidea (although Houston wont get anything for Winston..they released him)  GB  will get at least a 4th for Matt Flynn...depending on if they sign more guys themselves....

It's a concession to the salary cap.
Guys like King Jerry, Daniel Snyder, and Bobby Kraft can afford to simply buy a Super Bowl, heck Jerry already bought a couple of them.
They weren't going to just hand over their expensive UFAs because the NFL said you can't throw unlimited cash at people to buy a ring - without getting at least something in return for having to make those player sacrifices.
Small market teams absolutely have to have the C-Picks to be able to make up for their losses since they can't even afford not so #1 players once they hit UFA.
It's ALL about P>a>r>i>t>y
