Or, black & green for our third uniforms. I think our dilemma is we're wearing our "throw back", so we have to go to the Titans.

Re: Jet Uniforms

everybody rips the Titan uniform as being the ugliest throwback out there.  I actually like them....BUT, we are the JETS, not the Titans!!!  We should be wearing throwbacks from our own franchise!  I agree, the 80's uni's would be nice to see.

I was thinking that yesterday myself...we ARE the JETS..not the friggin" Titans (there is a team that plays under that moniker right now). If we do have to go throw up, er throw back, we should be doing it under the auspices of New York Jets...not Titans. Enough is enough!banghead

RE: Jet Uniforms

give me the first years they went to the green helmets.....78-79........I liked the darker green with the white facemask. As we got into the later 80's and 90's the helmet/uniform seemed to get lighter and more ridiculous. By the time the black facemask cma earound the shirts were almost metallic in appearance.

.....but I am tired of these Titan uniforms.

....can't say I hated the cheerleaders in those sweaters...........meow.

Re: Jet Uniforms

agree with everything said above

and I'd argue that the league has gone too far with all these throwback stuff - the Denver stuff - Fugly - and now when they show highlights from multiple games on any of the networks and they show 4 or 5 plays from different games for any team they may be wearing 3 or 4 different uniforms - losing the instant visual recognition that really matters in football

Re: Jet Uniforms

I thought they were only allowed to wear the throwback uniforms Twice a year.... why don't they burn those things for the rest of 2009.

ummmm I don't know who everybody is because there is no question the Broncos, the Eagles and a few others are much worse and mocked way more than ours.

RE: Jet Uniforms

Uniforms don't make the team. This season is dedicated to the old AFL league which many here don't remember. It was a league that no one really respected, or acknowledged for many years after its inception. I'm not crazy about them but anytime the league does a tribute to something in the past, it's a reminder of what things were like. I applaud the league for wearing pink last month for breast cancer awareness even though the shoes looked wierd; or wearing a black patch or number of a passed player. It's all good.

I hate them!!  Go back to our jerseys.  At least if I am going to sit through another season falling apart, I want to enjoy the jersey!!

Maybe it's because I'm old and like tradition but I always want to see the Jets in green.  It's classic . I even liked the old logo.  I found the throwback kind of a distraction last game. noidea

Re: Jet Uniforms

I thought I was the only one who HATED the old Titans uniforms.  I'd love to see the 80's Jets uniforms as well or at least something w/green in it.  I understand them using them this season due to the tribute but I hope we never see them again.

Re: Jet Uniforms

The problem is it's a great uniform, but it just doesn't work for the Jets.  I'd love to see it on a college team or something with similar colors.

Of course, the reason they're not throwing back to their original Jets uniforms from the AFL is that they're too similar to what they wear now (extra couple of stripes, lighter green) so people wouldn't BUY THEM because they weren't different enough.  Don't think for a second they wouldn't be wearing them if they could sell more of another kind.

Re: Jet Uniforms

Gang Green, Big Blue, Orange Crush.  Certain teams are associated more strongly with the color of their unis.

We are one of them.  I happen to like the navy and gold but I'd like to see us get back to the green for the rest of the season.

Re: Jet Uniforms

Here's a very different idea - which I'm sure the NFL would frown at

Instead of changing to our old Titan unis, what if our current players for one game wore numbers from the past - I'd kinda like the numbers from 1968

Sanchez out there in 12

Edwards in 13

Jones in 41.....what was Boozers number?

Keller gets Lammons

what numbers did Grantham and Philbin etc wear

I cant do it from memory, but I'm sure someone knows a link to it all......just numbers - no names on the jerseys.....

But, it would be quite confusing. I have a problem figuring out if it was Brad Smith (16) or Wallace Wrght (15) out there now. I think we are stuck for Titans the rest of the way this year whenever we have the AFC throwback games, but I really liked the white ones we wore against the Raiders better than the blue ones we wore last week. I think the home team can control what colors it wears, as the Cowboys usually wear white at home, I think.
