Re: Coaching:
While I understand it's hard to stay both disciplined and aggressive, this team makes some of the DUMBEST penalties I've witnessed from a Jets team since the Kotite days. 12 men on the field penalties are completely unacceptable. An illegal shift on a 2pt is unacceptable. Simply pathetic

Re: Coaching:
Shotty has to go! The last series killed me.. We had been running the ball with authority, and after a 7 yard run we pass 3x? When there is a first down between us and the endzone? Rediculous!
Look at how we lost the first fins game.. They were running the ball successfully, and they stuck with it and crammed it down our neck..
We were in the perfect position to return the favor, and shotty gets cute with the passes..
That's the difference between our OC and a good one..
It's especially sad since we had a shot to make a run this year..
Shotty you gotta go..!

RE: Coaching:
Ryan will have to decide whether he wants to leave it to Schotty, or become a part of it. We learned Mangini was involved, maybe Ryan will do more than just look in on the meetings.

RE: Coaching:
Personally I think Schotty did OK on offense, and I think Rex did OK on defense, Westhoffs Special Teams killed us today giving up 2 friggin KR's for TD's to Crocidile Ginn. If it was'nt for those 2 plays, it would have easily been a Jet victory. Go Jets...Cyborg

WE should have run the ball because TJ gets to what the 7... then we pass...resulting in an Ohlay block and a sack. That was the game Cy and that is squarely on the OC... I have have lost all confidence in this guy.... AS for HC he is learning. Give him credit because he must have said somehting to Shotty after the bills game because they started to pound the rock the way he envisioned...so I put that on the HC. But in the end IMHO this loss was directly attributed to 1) ST - which one us the Tenn games so things even out and 2) Shottys horrible PC down there.

RE: Coaching:
It was all specials. I hate to look at one series at the end and say it cost us. What if Jones gets stuffed at the line, then we're second guessing the runs saying the Phins were expecting run and we should have passed. If you want to critique Shotty ask why it takes him until the second half to start getting into a rythm. A TD in the first would have helped, but they had too many stalled drives and 3 and outs.

WrightStuff4 wrote:im suprised the jets dont run more screens with the athletic line we have and playaction roll outs with the strong running game we have I don't know how many times I've said the same thing. I just don't get it... I will say this about the last drive, does shotty not have one money play to run from 10 yards out when you need the score? Those three pass plays were nothing special at all. Where's the bread and butter play, something you know will work that you keep for those specific moments.

We only do one thing out of the shoutgun and that's pass and I think that takes away from our strength, especially around the goal line. Schotty does that most of the time and never runs out of that formation to keep the defense honest. I think Schotty is an OK/average coordinator, however, I've never really seen the genius he's touted as being.

Re: Coaching:
I really don't think Schotty should fall on the sword for this one. We had a really good game plan on offense and had a good balance between the run and pass. We racked up 374 yards. This game comes down to the poor special teams( first time in Jets history two KO'S returned for td's) and the Greene fumble that was brought back for a td. Never should have come down to that last possession. Sanchez was hot too. He was 9 of 10 at that point in the second half. Can't be afraid to let the qb throw especially when the dolphins weren't getting much pressure. It was tough sledding with the running game this week, because that's the one thing the dolphins do well defensively. We only averaged 3.2 per carry this game. Heck, if it wasn't for that ankle tackle by Jason Ferguson, Sanchez would've walked in for his second rushing score of the game.

You are right when it's all said and done it did come down to special teams and the fumble BUT it did come down to that because we were ineffective on that last drive. What bothers me most about that last series is there was no obvious plan. It looked like when we played in the streets and just told everyone to run around and try to get open. Sorry but I think Schotty does get the blame and I think he should be gone before he gets this kid into more bad habits.

RE: Coaching:
What about in the first quarter the Jets moving the ball to the miami 36-37 TWICE and getting stopped on third down and then PUNTING both times instead of kicking FGs?
I think Feely showed why we should have went for FGs those times - by hitting a freakin 55 yarder in the third quarter. I bet you Feely said something to Rex about the fact that he didnt go for the FG those first drives. Might have produced a differnet outcome.

Yes, schotty has to go because he's got Sanchez looking indecisive with bad habits that HE DIDN'T HAVE when he first came here.

Re: Coaching:
The ONE thing that has to happen for us to go 8-0 or 7-1 now is to find 3 new coaches on Offense. Schotty must go for obvious reasons, along with our WR and QB coaches. I challenge anyone to prove me wrong on the following. Crabtree just started playing last week and has already done great. Is he known for his speed? NO! Bey for Oakland and Ginn have awesome speed. Bey is under 10 catches from the start of the season and Ginn is benched as a WR. Jerry Rice and Fred Belitnekoff weren't known for their speed and look what they accomplished. We have Clowney and Edwards for speed and Cotch isn't slow. BEAR WITH ME HERE. The MAIN reason for our losses is that we run horrible pass patterns and can't get open often enough. Look at the footwork and positioning of our WR's. They don't cut sharp on patterns and give no head fakes. They also don't give a false step one direction to fool DB's and go the other way. In the end zone, we used to have a wr cut across the field, stop on a dime and reverse course. It's extremely difficult for def to follow if done right. (W Welker does this a lot as well as a FEW others.) Yes, our ST had a little difficulty today but we came back with 3 TD'S of our own and almost won ,besides being stopped inside the 20. Why do we have 2 rec's converging to the same spot in the end zone bringing other def's with them. Our last play of the game. DUMB! One other thing that OUR rec's aren't coached to do is to come meet the ball. It's cuts down on INT's and helps cut down on def knockdowns . I've seen OTHER team rec's do it, why can't we? BTW, Keller sits down in an open spot in the zone and starts drifting and MS doesn't know if he will keep moving or not . Other times he cuts off pattern and MS is still trying to lead him. Yes, he had 8 catches today but he could have had more. LOUSY COACHING and plays! As far as the QB coach, MS still makes same mistakes meaning MS is stupid (NO WAY) or QB coach not emphisizing things enough. Won't go into details as another poster covered this in another thread. I've posted some of this before in another thread and NOBODY responded which means I'm a genious and EVERYBODY AGREES OR they think I'm nuts and don't deserve a response. (my ex would agree with the latter).

Re: Coaching:
Revis24, that was empassioned. I think we're going to see a major over haul after the season. I used to say that it wasn't his plays but PC. I do think he needs to learn how to devise better routes. We have an outstanding Wr corp + TE. Yet, we can't get a guy open. I had no problem with Schotty today. I wish we were doing this to start the season. The wins would be blowouts, and the losses may have been wins, but I have a feeling this team is set up for a nice run. I had two problems today, and they would have been three, but a penalty saved us from making the first mistake until later. 1 + 1 + 1 = 3. 1+ 0+0 = 1.We lost by 5, but had our the ball inside the 10 with a minute to go. see where I am going? I would have liked to have been able to kick a game tying FG. That's just me! I don't care what the charts say. Take the damn points.
